IL possibly oil metering pump?

hey everyone, My 86 rx7 Fc died on me a few days ago. at first i thought it could have been vacuum leak but it made no sense why my car wouldnt start back up with just a vacuum leak.

But anyways here are the symptoms before she died, I was driving on a country road coasting, my rpms suddenly hit 0 then within a second maybe less it shot back up to the rpm i was coasting at. drove home, stopped the car washed it started it right back up no problem and drove to a restaurant. parked the car and sat in it for a few min and while the car was idling it just died out. the engine cranks but it wont start back up.

i think it could possibly be the oil metering pump since there is some oil around it that looks like it could have leaked from there.

possibly fuel injectors? but it just doesnt seem as likely to me, or perhaps ignition.

how would i go about testing if these three things are bad or not?

and do you think it could be some other sort of problem?

also the previous owner just rebuilt the engine i just hit 1k miles on it(ive been breaking it in properly). the engine is now in perfect running conditon as ive seen the inside of it. but he didnt replace any of the external parts.

all help and advice is greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

The OMP won't cause the car to not start. How about checking for spark.

theres no spark. so i tried testing spark on the ignitor coils. no spark. so me and a friend who has a running fc took the coils out of his car and put them in mine. the engine did not fire up. we put mine in his car and it didnt start then he put his back in his car and it started right up. the only difference in mine than his is that the previous owner ran some red wire with a fuse(the fuse is not blown btw) into a coupling that is on both coils. with this the wire connected both of the coils. i dont know what this wires purpose is but when we put his coils in my car we tried starting the engine with the wire connected and disconnected. did i short my coils and fry a wire or something?.
