The lifespan of these types of spacers is usually in the range of 2-3yrs with mixed usage. They simply get heat cycled, brittle, and vacuum leak. For those few years though, there IS a difference in heatsoak for something like the Intake Manifold.

I actually just did a discussion on one of my little chat groups (engineers and car guys) about the main benefit of a carb being the Latent Heat of Vaporization of fuel in the air-path and how it cools the air charge so drastically, with e85 you'll see a manifold with frost accumulating on it. There's always a HUGE gain for dropping intake temperature, so stuff like this, as small as it may seem, can begin to add up if you carefully, methodically go through it all.

I figure a good silicone would be better than a gasket on these to help fight any leaks over time.
Another issue that may arise is fitment. The UIM will sit a little higher, so will the y-pipe and crossover pipe (efini), as well as the turbo inlets being "opened up" with the rear closer to firewall and front closer to intercooler. LIM being a lil closer to turbos may negate any effects of that spacer (though that's the already worrisome one with location of turbo mani). The ones I made are only about 4mm thick. Any thinner and I doubt any usefuleness, thicker is definitely doable for better results but again - fitment.

Thread revival!

Has anyone done anything about this? I'd be a buyer for an FD3S kit.

Turblown has Inconel single turbo gaskets, inconel has a very low thermal coefficient. Maybe that's a good thin material to use?

yeah that might be an option. What material did you use, and did you notice any really difference? How have they held up?

I used a silicone/glass phenolic at about 3mm thick. They are mounted but I haven't finished my electrical project so they haven't been run yet.
if you are up and running I can likely make em and send just for cost of shipping if you're up to test em for me.

If by test you mean see if they leak, and use an IR temp gun on the manifolds before and after, I can do that. I'll send you a PM later and we can sort details
