Oil compatibility.

My oil is little low and I have a couple bottles of Quaker 10W 30 full synthetic in the garage and was wondering if it was alright to top off my oil with that until I can take my car to get an oil change. I'm currently running 20w50 Series 2000 Amsoil...just need something to drive it back to Gotham...but it's crosstown and don't want to chance it.

Go ahead. Assuming the quaker even causes problems, we're talking slow long term effects here. Like buildup of ash. I'd get some AMS or a non-synthetic later when it's convenient, but I wouldn't worry in the mean time.

As for adding 10w30 to 20w50, that doesn't really hurt either. As for mixing two different oil brands, the additives might interfere decreasing the performance characteristics and lifespan of the oil a little. It'll still be plenty good enough, though.

In general there's not much you can screw up with oil unless you let it get empty or unless you get on a race track with cheap oil. Otherwise all the advantages/problems are super long term.
