Oh Poo! Too rich?!?

so here's some history on the car.. i just both this na gxl fc3s from my friend whom just rebuilt the motor 3 years ago then due to hard time he had to let it sit. he said he smoged it but failed due to timing.. so he adjusted the timing and then lost his job. so he never went back to it.

like i said i just bought the car. my first 7 and even though i've been a greese monkey since i was 12, worked as a mechanic since. i have absolutly no idea how to approach this.

for kicks and giggles after she sat for 3 years after a fresh rebuild i decided to scratch the tune up and oil change and just take her str8 to the smog shop to see where she stand..

surprisingly the car passed the majority of all the tests but it was running tooo rich. the smog tech said it's dumping gas. since then i've swaped out the spark plugs. and put about 100 miles on her.. she runs like a champ. no problems starting. no problem turning off the motor.

by the way i live in ca.
any help would be appreciated thanks.

Check out the emissions section of the 2nd gen FAQ. Here Other factors not in that chart could be sticking injectors because the car sat for so long. Also, a bad thermoswitch can keep it in a cold fuel map.

You might want to test your water temp sensor and get your injectors cleaned.

Spend money on a factory shop manual.

its really important that the Air Control Valve be working correctly. the manual is here www.foxed.ca since its not really labeled really well, i usually actually blow thru the vacuum hoses to make sure they are going where they are supposed too.

sorry for the late update. .. ok i realized that i havent posted up pics of the smog results but my first smog test with rotory hanzo ( her name ) ended up with a super high HC count of 560 i believe.

then with the help of a friend, who owns a completely stock fc3s i traced the vacuums down to the mass air flow sensor. ( no fawking **** right ) then i took rotory to the smog again, which resulted in a hydro carbon level of 220. which is just a little bit too much for ca smog. so0o now i 'm gonna retard the timing alittle then take her back.. hope that all, cross your fingers.
