Need tranny suggestions and info

Hey guys,
I am building a Rambler 2 dr. wagon with a 13b-rew hot rod...
Have a question about trannys....
Does the turbo II trans bolt up to the FD rotary?
Has anyone done a T5 conversion to a FD motor?

I just want to make sure I get the right trans in my wagon that will hold up.
The motor is a FD 13b-rew..I cant use the stock trans because of the length..my wagon is very short. I have a 76 tranny but people have told me it will fail quickly behind the rew.

What tranny should I be looking for?

A guy local has a T5 adapter and TII bellhousing. ANy info on the adapters to bolt a T5? I presume if a TII trans bolts to the FD then the adapter should allow a T5 to go on.....

Here is a pic of my motor..again, its a FD 13b-rew running streetport and single turbo..I am figuring around 400 hp. So does a TII bellhousing bolt to a FD 13b-rew?
Thanks guys for helping a rotary beginner...

You could try some of the dogbox trannies. If you search for dogbox trannies, you will come across Damian's post and he has it in his car. He even has a test video of him driving his car around.

its not a direct bolt in and im pretty sure that the TII tranny is just as long as the FD tranny that you said wont work. Are you dead set on a manual? depending on what your looking to do with the car there is alot more choices if you would be ok with a automatic...you can get an adapter made for the TII tranny to fit the REW and then you can get a custom driveshaft. what rear are you running?

I have heard that you can move the shifter forward on the TII..I guess its done to place the shifter in a good location in the small 70's rotary cars..My biggest problem is shifter location..I obviously dont want the shifter 5 inches behind me
The car is already fitted with new Wilwood clutch set up and I really do not want to go with an auto..What needs to be done to bolt a TII bellhousing to a FD engine?
The rear will be a Ford 9" with most likely 4:11 gears and I will have a driveshaft made.
Anyone have any ideas?????

someone makes an adapter plate so you can bolt the TII tranny to the REW. i dont see how you can possibly move the shifter on a TII tranny. the shifter goes right into the tailshaft, there isnt any linkage

There is a mod to move the shifter forward, but it's usually only 1-2" Doubt if you can get 5", but 4" might be doable. Check the 1st gen section for the mod. The rest can be made up by modding the shifter handle, unless it's hitting the front of a bench seat.

Just bumping..been awhile...
I want to pick up a WC T5 trans but sure would like to get a straight answer as to what needs to be done to hook up to my FD 13b-rew rotary...I talded to Kennedy Engineering and they said their adapter doesnt work on the 13b-rew..been told they do work by others if you use the TII bellhousing...doesnt the TII bellhousing bolt right to a 13b-rew? if so couldnt I use the kennedy adapter to run the T5???
I plan to start the wagon project again in January and want to get this trans figured out.....
Thanks guys..
