msd ignition ?

IM THINKING ABOUT INSTALLING A MSD AL IGNITION IN MY 7.
MY QUESTION IS CAN I INSTALL ONE MSD AL ON THE LEADING AND ONE ON THE TRAILING COIL. ALSO HOW DO I INSTALL A
STAGEING REV LIMITER FOR LAUNCHES AT THE TRACK

yes you can use one MSD for the leading(both coils fire at the same time) and the trailing(only one coil). with the modifications you have it is not needed though. the stock ignition when working correctly is very good and can handle more power than you can generate. As for the staging rev limiter that may be a bit of a problem. check the instructions and wiring for these devices, unfortunately most are designed for cars with traditional single coil and distributor.

If you are keeping the factory 3 coil setup you will need three MSD boxes or use the MSD box only on the leading coil.

The other option is to use the MSD DIS4 wich has 4 channels of wich you will only be using three. Each channel acts lilke a MSD box.

To keep things simple I would go with the MSD on the leading coil.

Hey thanks for the info guys. Can any one tell me how to hook up a msd ignition to each trailing coil. is the installation the same for the trailing as it is for the leading coil.

I have an MSD 6A on my moderately modified 2nd gen (NA) and am currently in the process of installing a Jacobs Pro Pak on my 93 Touring because I have seen the difference an ignition amp can have on the car. I really *really* don't think it's necessary to put the two extra msd's on the trailing coils because they are mostly for emissions purposes anyway, and I would think the increase in hp would probably be minimal...maybe not even enough to justify the extra weight! =]

My 2nd gen has absolutely perfect idle characteristics and runs smoothly all the way up to redline with the msd on the leading only...

I agree that you only need the MSD for the leading unless you have something like me where you can no longer use the stock ignitors.

I don't know WHAT some of you are talking about, this is how its done.... You get an MSD Digital 6+ for the leading COIL and an MSD DIS 2 for the trailing COILS.

Well actually i heard of someone putting on two msds on one blaster coil and helped more than just one. he highly recomended it.

I want to try the MSD setup, but I have a problem. I have a 13b with Camden blower and a carb. I want to keep the stock crank angle sensor, and run Mallory or MSD. I have two Mallory HiFire IV and two MSD 6ALs laying around. (I'm a packrat for autoparts)

My problem comes from not having the wiring harness from the crank angle sensor to the coils. No where on the web does it give a detailed installation. I need wiring for dummies.

I'm good with electronics and wiring, just scared of tearing up something.

I'm open to any suggestions since this is going in a kit car.

You can't use the DIS-4 on a stock ignition system with leadings and individual trailings...
