Really sounds to me like it might be a fule filter. If you can"t blow thru it, it's pluged. If not that, check the float levil in the carb, front and rear. it should be 1/2 way up the glass. (make shure the car is on levil ground when you check this)
If all that stuff checks out, it might be the fule pump is wearing out. See if you can do a pressure test on it.
good luck!
Let me know what you find out!

Uphill climbs?

Do you still have a CAT? Substrate might have melted, causing plugged exhaust.

Hit it with a hammer, if it rattles, get a test pipe

Hey guys, I have an 88 nonturbo convertible. Just recently I am having power loss problems and it felt like maybe the exhaust was clogged up. I got that checked and everything came back ok but the problem they said was overfueling. How do I fix that?

Tims 88, please let me know what you find. I just stuck an '86 motor in an '88. Neither have been run in about 10 yrs, and I'm only on 2nd fill-up. Now I'm getting power loss uphill, but only when its warm out, freeway speed, and after running about 20 minutes. On the way TO work in the morning, everything is fine (it's an auto, so kinda puky anyway). Don't think its fuel cause it raps up in 2nd (but still little power). Starts & idles fine, no rough running, but throttle response is like I got a honkin' big trailer. Pulls uphill just fine the next morning. Gonna swap coils and take a closer look at plugs. Also thinking of a half-dead thermo sensor somewhere (gets warm and finishes dying?). Just got here in my web search.

I called a Rotary tech over to look at the car he says it is most likely the primary injecters, cause above 4000 rpm it runs fine. He says I have to take the upper intake off and we are going to replace all of the injectors while we have it apart. By the way If anyone knows if $250 is a good deal for the work and parts I would love some feedback.

I have an 89 and the same thing is happening loos of power, plus the car is backfiring a lot! I checked the compresion and It is low in the back rotor. I guess it is a apex seal?! Maybe somebody has any idea if it can be something else?

My problem is turning out to be some weird, intermittent brake-drag thing. But glad I don't have to pull the intake manifold, anyway.
