This just sucks....
So when i filled uo the gas tank the first time on my newly bought 7, i discovered that the gas tank seems to not like to hold gasoline. So after dumping 8 gal of gas on the ground (EPA....ha!) i stops at the half way point. I figure a split tank. But i was wondering if the split tank could cause the rough idle and afterburn (backfire) that is random. May be fuel pressure loss due to split? Also with a gutted cat, does the car smoke a bit at higher Rpms?
thanks!!!!
i have to know so i can get the car out of state inspected!

Have you checked for any holes drilled into the gas tank? Reason I say this, my cars previous owner drilled two holes into the gas tank to put some lame *** fake roll bar into the car! Yes, holes were drilled INTO the top of the gas tank. I couldn't beleive what I saw when I pulled the fake roll bar out. Well, two days later I had fixed the holes and got her running again. I love epoxy and metal fillers.
Please be carefull with any gas leaking. This is an extreamly dangerous area to fool around with. Find out where it is coming from and fix if you can. If not, junkyards should have tanks for failry cheap. It's not to hard to pull the tank out either.
