just finished vac hose job, now boost spiking fixed?
i recently finished my vac hose job ( replaced all check valves and 3 solenoids 2 broken 1 malfunctioning one ) about week and half ago....car is sooo smooth but whats strange is i dont get anymore boost spiking to 14-15psi? i used to spike if at WOT and my boost was erradic and felt stumbley my mods are bonez high flo mid pipe, and bonez downpipe with new air filter stock replacement. my boost is now a perfect for me 11-9-11 at WOT i used to get something like 5-5-15! ouch!!! i am puzzled because i though vac hose job was going to give me more boost that i was loosing through leaks? AND ALSO THE Y-PIPE WAS GOING TO INCREASE BOOST? how is this so......good news is the ecu
it was fun experience working on the vac lines i think everyone who ones a FD should do it i learned alot about how the turbo works and the car itself......

Old [Sch|F]ool
The boost spiking/erratic boost control was probably caused by old, cracked hoses and crackes solenoids not sending the correct signals to the actuators.
vacuum hoses are generally too small to cause a major loss-of-boost problem unless you grab a handful of them and yank them off entirely.
