I think my oil control rings are going bad

Howdy yall I recently got into the rotory game and bought a 85 rx7 back in February (12a) so I'm rather new to this stuff. Since about a month after buying it I've notice sometimes after WOT a few seconds later on the decel or if you upshift then get back on it it will shoot out a good plume of smoke from oil I assume because it doesn't smell like coolant. I believe it's my oil control rings but I'm not sure because it still runs great starts up quick and never bogs or stutters and it doest happen every time and is kinda random. Also after sitting for a while (at least a week) I notice some burning oil that will last about a minute or two after start just want some input before I pull the motor and buy parts.

Yeah, sounds like oil control rings. That's normal for an old engine but not great.
Since you've only had it since February, have had an oil change yet?

Driving without revving the snot out of it should use about 1 quart between 3000 mile oil changes.
If you're having to add a lot more than that then pull the motor.
12A parts are getting hard to find and if you open it up it may not be in the best shape inside.

Possibility of being a bad pcv system?

On my 2nd gen s5 t2 engine, I had aloottttttttt of smoke under decel. Ended up being a ripped pcv diaphragm. Replaced it and good to go.

im not familiar with the 12a’s pcv system to comment on it.
