Oil control rings

Hello, the oil control rings in my car are starting to slowly go. As I don't have the money in hand to pay for a rebuild, what are some ways to increase the life of the motor. I'm already switching to 20w-50. Anything else that would help? If it helps my daily commute is 5miles in total.

Should have been running 20W-50 in LA heat anyway.

That will help somewhat. But if they are worn, they are worn.

Lucas oil stabilizer can help cut down on the amount of oil smoke. Reduces the embarassment, but doesn't actually fix anything.

As for extending engine life, you could ride a bike instead of driving.
