I have no idea how the oil gets to the oil pan

Title says it. If the chamber/plates are sealed (one solid piece) on the bottom (or so it seems that way) how does the oil get to the oil pan? Is the middle plate hollow or have oil passages?

Middle Plate is Hollow, then there are two passages where it can come out

Yep. And also passages in the front and rear plate for oil weeping out of the main bearings.
