Hurley (HME) Opinions
Hi All,
I'm planning a rebuild of my engine this winter and have been looking around at various upgrades.
Does anyone have expeience with Hurley?
Specifically I'm looking the various seals and the Direct Tip Seal Lubication system.
Thanks,
-Spencer

I wasn't spamming.
Since it's a Brittish company, I assumed that they would likely have a higher instance of european customers than North American.
It was a perfectly reasonable post.
Please allow me to post there as not everyone who has used the seals goes in this forum.

I've never used them but the design looks good. I have hear of people using them in the US but there rather expensive to ship so most people just buy the mazda seals. There is nothing wrong with the mazda seals. People down play them like there not good which is worng. Mazda has done the most R&D on seal wear, when people blow their seals it's not because of the seal, it's becasue of the engine builder.

True enough. I'm always curious about trying new technology...
The duplex apex and side seals, as well as the direct tip lubication all seem interesting...

i pulled a motor that had 5 broken corner seals, 2 broken side seals, and pittign and dents on the rotor faces, but no broken apex seals.... coincidence?

I use them in my Rx2 and other engines whith hi output.
They are not as hard as the original Mazda.
If they break or get damaged they will not distroy the engine mostly.

seals
i used a set of Hurley 3mm for 20k at 15psi. the engine was detonated several times until 4 of 12 corner seals were broken in half.
apexes showed no signs of cracks. but did "score" the rotor housings more than my 3mm mazda build or 2mm Atkins build. this might be due to water injection or other things though
my personal opinion: Hurley=good, 3mm Mazda=Good, Atkins=soft=no good

i cant say. it was "the same", but compression wasnt good with either due to over-gapped side seals. i'm fixing that problem now.
