Notr so much trap speed but ET, definitely!!!

1/4 mile races are usually won or lost in the first 60 feet, or 330 feet. The launch is EVERYTHING. You get nmore gain by makign the slow parts faster, instead of the fast parts faster.

I don't think my numbers are right but, I thought there was some kind un-written rule that for every 0.2 second improved on your 60 ft time will result in a 0.1 second improvment on your 1/4 mile time... or was it 0.1 second improved on your 60 ft time will result in a 0.02 second improvment on your 1/4 mile time... Anyone ever hear of something like that???

It's acutually for ever 1/10 you save in the first 60ft, you gain 2/10's in the quarter.

From my personal experience, the easiest way to get your car faster in the quarter is by improving your 60ft time.

I was running mid 11's (11.4-11.6) and added some gears, and dropped my 60ft time from a high 1.6 to a mid 1.5 and the car ran 11.1-11.2 very consistently.

Hope that helps.

Anthony

thanx....

Yea i assume if he drops his 60 footer to like 2.2 atleast he could run mid high 13's and a better trap seeing that he waz basicly bogging like crazy off the line...

Jeez, I was running fairly consistent 2.1 60' times with this setup...

3.90 gears
Open diff
185/70-13 economy tires (Goodyears have "Heat-n-Hook" rubber compounds!) at 20psi
12A engine that would bog and fall flat on its face at about 30 feet

If I could have eliminated the bog, my 60's would easily have been in the 1.9-1.8 range. Of coruse the easiest way to do that would be to get lower rear gears so it wouldn't bog out the engine when the clutch grabbed

Open diff is just a standard diff... if one tire starts spinning, there is no mechanism to prevent it. As opposed to a LSD which has clutch packs or (sometimes) worm gears or (sometimes) a viscous coupling that tried to keep both tires spinning the same speed, or a welded diff/spool which is a non-differential - both tires spin the same speed no matter what.

Open diffs are tricky
