High Idle

I got my 89, N/A rx-7 engine rebuilt and it was running fine, but when i got in it today it was idling way HIGH. It was at 2,500 rpms. I need help trying to figure out how make it go down. Any suggestions?????

First, you need to set your TPS. Set it with a resistance meter at the TPS plug to 1K Ohms, engine fully warmed up. Then check it with the twin lights at the check connector to verify that only one light is lit. Adjust it so that only one light is lit. Shouldn't be much of an adjustment.

Then, when you've gotten the TPS properly adjusted, set your idle speed. Ground the initial set connector and adjust idle to 750 by turning the idle adjust screw on top of the throttle body. Remove the initial set connector ground and you should be good to go.

Now if you still have idle problems, then you probably have a vacuum leak. They're pretty common with these cars as high engine bay temps over 15 years can really bake the vacuum lines.
