help, i cant shift in to 1st...
help, i cant seem to shift in to first. the problem started a couple of days ago when i stepped on the clutch and it made a rattling/chatter noise. it has stopped after 2 times of driving but now when at a dead stop, sometimes i cant shift in to 1st. when i step on the clutch a couple of times and then wiggle the shifter, it will eventually go in to first. i think its the Throw-out bearing or the Pilot bearing. anyone have any suggestions on what to do? also, could anyone tell me where i can buy a new Throw-out bearing or Pilot bearing? also must i have a rotary specalist do this for me or can any shop that does transmissions do this for me?
thankyou

I wish I was driving!
First of all, check if it will go into first with the negine off. clutch in or out, it should go in. Then get a friend to wtach and check for clutch arm movement while the other depresses the clutch pedal.
Clutch work is not rotary specific, the tranny's are the same as any other car. Any mechanic can do a clutch job. Most any store will carry the T/O bearing, pilot bearing and seal, and clutch kits. Online rx7 stores will as well, such as www.rx7.com, www.mazdatrix.com, etc. Just look around, clutch **** is easy to find.
I think its more than likely your hydralics first, but try first stopped and get back to us.

I had that near same problem once, thinking my tranny was going out. It turned out to be a penny stuck under my shift boot and wasn't allowing me to go into reverse..lol
