Getting back your stolen RX7
Hey everyone,
Somebody touched my wankel and took it for a joyride, but now I got it back and I couldn't be happier. I tired to search the forums through google, but all I could find is actual post of their stolen car. I just want to know everyone's opinion on whats the best next steps to do to make sure everything is ok without further damaging the engine.
A little background of my car, even though this could be generalized for most rotary equipped vehicles; I have a S4 non-turbo. Specifically I have been building this car up for a while now, and I was beginning to break in my streetported motor. It was on 80 miles at the time, and I had a small hairline crack in the top end tank of my radiator which I sealed. When I found my car he drove about 750 miles on it, and the radiator fully broke, and there was a lot of coolant missing.
If someone is premixing, and your unsure if the person premixed your gas for you while they borrowed it; what should you do? If you think theres around 3 gallons in there should I just throw in 3oz of premix. Or should i just drain it all and start new?
Since I do not know the condition on the engine anymore, I was also think of taking out the radiator hoses and capping the inlet and outlet to just see if it starts up. Would most people advice against this on a rotary engine?
Anything else I should specifically look for?

Sucks about the car getting stolen. Drain the gas for sure, its easy enough. I doubt he was following motor break-in procedures, so there's that, and the fact that he probably overheated it. Compression test and a leakdown test might be a good idea. Hopefully if when he put gas in it there was some residual premix to at least oil it a little. Yeah, that's absolutely fucked.

Sorry to hear that it happened, it's not a nice thing to go through, but I'm very glad to hear it's back home now!
I'd probably start by filling the tank with fresh gas and adding the usual amount of premix, removing the plugs and adding a little in there as well and turn it over for 3 seconds. If you're hearing the consistent "pops", put the plugs back in and give it a start.
Of course, check your fluids and maybe change the oil now they've "broken it in" for you. Without at least running it, it will be hard to tell what the results are and what work is required. (Hopefully none and it'll be happy!)
