Flywheel install
Before I go and hammer on this with an impact and mess something up, should the flywheel slip right onto the shaft and key? (I'm new to rotary so if those aren't the right terms I'm sorry. I got the motor with the flywheel off already, had it turned and bought a new clutch. I went to put the flywheel on and it doesn't seem to just go on. I spun it until the key was aligned but it won't slip on. Is that normal? Should I just use the impact to drive it on?

Well I guess it's going on further than I thought. The marks on the flywheel from where it's been on before. It just doesn't seem deep enough. Like the nut doesn't thread all the way on to the e shaft. Is that normal? I cleaned the channel on the flywheel before install. Key is the right way. I'm just precautious. Does anyone have a pic of installed flywheel?

I'll have to later I just had to leave for work. I have a couple of threads showing on the nut still. It slips on to the key, but I'm not sure it's far enough. There are marks from when it was on previously and it goes on to that point. I'm used to 6 bolts going into a crankshaft so this is weird to me.

It's hand tight and maybe one or two turns with my wrench. I didn't want to keep turning it down if it would cause damage. I think it's pulling the flywheel further onto the shaft. I will try it again after work or in the morning. Thanks for your help.

Well I found out the key has a notch in it. Part of it is sticking up not allowing the flywheel on. With the key out, it slides right on. I've found the key new online for 5 dollars, but shipping is 10. Seems a little crazy. Anyone know where I can get one locally? The nearest mazda dealer is 38 miles away. Can I just grind the burr down some to get it to work?
