I'm assuming your talking about pressing brakes when stopped? The brake booster is vacuum operated so when you press them down it pulls vacuum off the engine

^^^ A couple of tries or a few seconds of cranking to start?
Regardless, an alternator will not keep your car from starting. Spark plugs could keep your car from starting easily if they are fouled . However, if the car runs smooth once it starts - its probably not a plug problem either.

Maybe - or just the FD starter interlock system showing its age. If the starter solenoid does not receive a full 12 volts, it will only click and not engage the starter.
I fixed the click-click-click-start problem by installing an additional relay at the starter itself.

The starting problem is well documented as pettit racing has designed a simple way to cure it

^^^ The Pettit "Starter Booster" is a $5 relay, some wire and a few crimp connectors. Seriously. Make it yourself.
Ive never seen a dashpot break and lots of people just ditch it as part of the bare-blocking and emissions removal process even though it has nothing to do with emissions. Your car might be dipping in RPM's when you decelerate because you need to adjust the fuel cut on your PFC.

Well I had a good idea of jump starting the car, and boom it starting without any problem, what does this mean is it still the starter or could it be my battery?
