engine wiring

all right, I'm ripping out the engine in my '90 vert, I've got an engine hoist coming thursday. I was wondering how to get the huge wire bundle - with all the connectors to the crap on the enfine - out of the engine. It seems a few connectors are under the vdi manifold and I need to take it off to get them off.. BUT one of the engine hooks is attached to it so... how do I get them out?

You can either unplug the wire harness from the ECU and pull the harness through the firewall and remove it with the engine, or you can label each connector as you unplug it. Doing this means you'll have to remove the upper intake manifold because there are a few wires under there. A ground wire, the fuel injector wires, and a couple others.
