Engine stand ???

Well, there is a good chance that I might need to pull my engine out. Had oil coming out of front of engine, and took off fan shroud and fan, and found that my front bolt had come off. The 19mm that is in the middle of the e-shaft. So, would it be a good idea to take off the front and rear covers? What are the chances that the rear bearing dropped?

Ok, and where can I get a good engine stand for a rotary? I saw that mazdatrix sold one for like $90, but is there anything cheaper? What is the cheapest place to buy engine pullers / stands?

And, if I do end up pulling my engine out, would it be a good idea to do the mazdatrix 6 port street port on it while it is out? Or would that require some serious work on pulling the engine apart? I would like to do the intake and exhaust.

Just looking for some answers. Thanks guys!

If that bolt came out, the only bearings that will come out of place are the needle bearings inside the front cover. You don't have to pull the engine out and you don't have to do anything with the rear bearing or none of that. Remove the front cover (must remove water pump and alternator to get it off), re-install the bearings and spacers, and put it back together. Read the info found here: http://www.mazdatrix.com/faq/pulley.htm

If you want an engine stand, check at different auto parts stores or equipment rental places. You can usually rent one for cheap.

Cool. Thanks. I had read something on that thing about having something hold the clutch in to keep the rear bearing or something from dropping. I will get something to hold the clutch in and then take the front cover off. I am glad to hear that the rear probably hasn't dropped. Thanks a lot! yay!

Not sure what you are talking about when you say the rear hasn't dropped. The only bearings that can come out of place when the main crank pulley bolt is removed are the bearings font under the front cover. The rest of the bearings in the engine are in the rotors, and the ones in the stationary gears. These can't come out unless you take apart the engine and press them out.

O

Maybe when they said the rear bearing, they were talking about another bearing? I will read it again. Thanks.

On the mazdatrix website they list a competition thrust bearing. Would it be best to buy that? what is the difference?
