Engine builders! Need advice on rotor housing - unusual?
Engine builders! Need advice on rotor housing - unusual?
Just after dip cleaning my housings and began checking them over.. I noticed on one of the housings - if I run my nail over the area where the chrome meets the aluminium on the side of the housing (area where the water seals go), I can catch my nail.
The chrome seems to be standing out past (proud of) the aluminium part of the housing just barely enough to catch my nail. I thought this strange and need some experienced advise on whether this is a bad thing or acceptable / normal??
I've included a screen shot of some other housing just to illustrate the area I'm talking about..

Any help would be really appreciated!

Nah! Wont be a problem! Thats perfectly fine. I seen guys that reuse housings that most of us would just throw away with decent results. I personally would never use a housing that has more than 1/8th of an in of chrome flaking from the outer edge!
Thanks guys..
Is this something anybody has come across in their own experience?

That stainless steel liner is press fit in there, so it's not absolutely perfectly flat.
