Endplay questiones
Hello !
Finally i got my *** signd up hehe .
Ive searchd and read other endplay threads , but feel i still have to ask a bit .
Case:
Ive got a 71-72 12a , the engine has been rebuild and started ( not shure if it got completly run in) , before beeing stored for mabye a year by the former "owner" .
The engine turns easy whith plugs removed , but heres where the issue starts ,
When i meassure the endplay , it reads 1.8 mm . So here i got the endplay of a total 25-30 motors , talk about beeing gready !
Heres one possible "reason" i got when talking to the former owner , he said that when the engine was stored , the had at one time removed the front pully , and replaced it with an identiacal , but more rusty piece .
Could this be the reason for my exessive endplay , that mabye the front thrust bearing has fallen out of position , or any other similiar part , linked to the fact that the front pully has been " screwed" with , and mabye not torqued down upon moving of the engine etc ?
At last i also attached a couple pics , mabye someone can tell what year this engine is , and if it will bolt up to a 1981 Fb tranny .
Thanks for any input guys !
Best regards
Alex.S
