Just wondering if somebody could tell me how/where to look to top off my brake fluid. I think i ran out because i can't feel my brakes when i'm driving. (Don't worry, it was only coming out of my driveway)

Look near the driver's side shock tower. You should see a tank there with 2 thin hard lines looping out of it and running out of the engine bay. Check the picture.

Is there a different procedure to change the fluid over from the regular dot 3 to a synthetic dot 5.1 as apparently they are not compatible?

Or do I just bleed it normally till all the old stuff is gon and only new stuff comes out?

 

You generally don't top brake fluid off. As the pads wear, the volume in the caliper increases. This causes the reservoir to look low. When you replace the pads with new and push the pistons back in the caliper, the fluid will be pushed back up into the reservoir. If you have worn out pads and top the reservoir off, when you change the pads the reservoir will overflow.

If the pads are not seriously worn and the reservoir level is extremely low, you have a leak in the system somewhere. If the fluid is nominally low and you have poor brake pedal feel or a very long pedal, topping off the reservoir is not going to solve your problems.

In short, if you didn't know where the reservoir was, you should probably take the car to a qualified mechanic. Avoid the dedicated brake service places. Find a local shop that does sports car work and has some experience with road race cars, or track day cars at the least.
