FL Big ooops....

I put a haltech E6X in my car and uploaded one of Claudio's base maps onto it, it ran great, never had a problem. But I was a little lean so I decided to try to put some more fuel to it and think I went a lil too far b/c it wouldn't run and it fouled out the plugs. I was trying to keep it running while I was tring to back fuel trim out. I changed the plugs and reinstalled the base map back to how it was, but now it detonates or pings really bad and I have the timing exactly how it was before. The weird thing is it acts like it still has way too much timing in it, it tries to kick back when I try to start it, and I drove it down the road easy and it seemed fine. Before I was running at 12lbs of boost but now it only makes 5, did I kill it? I shure hope not...b/c I'm broke. Any input on this would be great. Thanks everyone

not sure if its necessary or not but did you re zero your timing after reloading the basemap?

Yea, I think it burnt the rotor right at the apex, b/c when you turn it over it kicks back a lil like it has a bunch of timing and it's really hot. Ya know? So I'm trying to decide what I want to do about getting another engine or building my dream motor.....the only shitty part is....I'm out of money. I guess I'll have to let my boat go. Know anyone who wants a boat? lol

usually, too rich won't blow an engine, especially if you didn't run it hard. Check your spark plug wires. Everyone messes those up at least once.

No, I know for sure I had them on right, I think it was something to do with the timing. Good news is I have a 13B-REW that has good parts in it and I'm just goin to build a big street port motor. I'm Quinns son, Derek, he's the gurue...I'm gettin there. I think what happen was a combniation of a few things, 110 octane, too much timing and too much fuel. I was at our shop the other day and I said something to someone about I needed the excuse to build my first motor and well, I gave myself a good excuse. Just at the wrong time...lol Eddie long time no see, didn't think you still lived in town, I see Tom every now and again.

No, but it sounds like it has a dead miss, like on just one side of one of the rotors. I'm going to try to get the motor out sometime and tear it down and see, but I there is a guy that's suppost to be bringing me his R100 to put a 12A in and get it running. So we'll see what happens....I'll just have to find time to take it to the shop and put it outside in the side rack and get the engine out and see. I'm all ready to go on the rebuild everything turned out good on the motor that I had, just need the rebuild kit and my engine tore down.

So you're gonna pull the motor apart to check if it's blown rather than do a compression check? You sound like a winner to me.

Seriously though, why don't you just do a compression test first?

B/c it has a dead miss on one rotor and the plugs are new and the wires are one right...and plus I just know...lol I work on these cars almost everyday... I'm a mechanic of 9 years, don't like to brag. I've been arouund rotaries all my life but never have had a chance to build one, I told the lady that works in our office at out shop that I wanted to build one just for the hell of it so I can say I did and it ran...well now's my chance...just kinda in a jacked up way and at the worng time lol My car is nothing but a toy it's not my daily driver or something I have to have...well I take that back I do have to have it...it's just a big experiment.
