Bad trailing trigger signal
OK a tech question. There is mostly no signal (peppered with an intermittent weak signal) coming down my Trailing #2 trigger wire from my Haltech E6A. The signal from the Trailing #1 is fairly solid, but it does sputter. My CDI's, wires, coils, and plugs test OK. The leading signal is strong. I interchanged the 2 MSD 8509 Magnetic Signal Stabilizers and there was no change. I thought one might have gone bad from some water damage. From the wiring diagrams it appears that from the crank angle sensor 4 wires come out and go 2 each to the MSS's. Out of one MSS goes the trigger signal wire to the haltech and of the other goes the home signal wire to the haltech. Out of the haltech goes the one leading and two trailing trigger wires. Does the haltech itself take the one trigger input and split it into the leading and trailing outputs? Where do you think the problem is coming from?
I figured it out... With my setup, I have to (on the E6A) set on the ignition page DIRECT FIRE. Every coil now fires properly. I was confused because everything I read told me to set it to Distributor. Anyways...
PS If I were to do it over again I would just get an MSD DIS 4 instead of a DIS 2 and a Digital 6+. Splice the one Leading input into channels 1 and 2 and voila!!

I though about that as well, but i was told that the charge time would not be susfficient due to the extremely close firing of the trailing plug. Let us know if you find out otherwise.

A single MSD DIS 4 will not be able to fire all the coils on a rotary unlless you have the leading and trailing firing together. The DIS 4 uses a single Spark unit which takes turns to fire each of its channels. The settings that you have on the Haltech even at idle with a 15 degree split and a spark duration of 20 degrees it will still be 15 degrees into firing the leading with 5 degrees to go.

This would mean that there would be some overlap that could cause problems.
