Alternator help
I'm no expert when it comes to the rx7 this car was a gift to me and it's been starting fine lately until a couple days ago I think it is the alternator cause the battery is brand new but the alternator doesn't look like it's an rx7 alternator I just also have no clue I was wondering what steps I would need to take to put an fd alternator or an s5 one or where the fuses are to check them as well

Alternator help
that is a NASTY looking s5 alternator
and FD alternator is plug and play with that alternator except having to swap pulleys, and drill the s5 pulley out to 17MM

Which one is the s5 one?? & of my pictures the black alternator the back of it has that wire that attaches to the terminal should that touch the alt. or is it okay the way it is?? I couldn't also just take the pulley off of my currently hooked up alternator and put it on the other one? And also I see one of the alternators have that sensor plug what would I need to hook up to that or use to bypass it cause the one I'm running now doesn't have a sensor

Your black alternator is missing the insulated Bakelite Pedestal that the Thick wire goes on.
If you look at your "next post pic" you will see the part with the nut clearly visible. It is that part that you are missing,so it is confusing you that the Main wire on your car is "hooking up" to that stud.
FD alt on an s4?..recent postings of threads show exactly how to do it,so you may want to take a peek in the Sec Gen Specific section.(lots of info you need is there)
* by the way Please do not "bump" tech questions..If you Really/REALLY need help then the full resources of the Site can be used with a search.
All threads are treated equal here.
Thanks and good luck.

and yes, you should be able to interchange the plastics between alternators, but honestly, the first post of pictures, the alternator looks horrendous and I would replace it

Alright so I have put it on and it still won't charge my battery I have to jump the car to start it and then it goes up to 3k rpms and then goes down and starts bouncing between 1500 and 2k I would like to just try this s5 alt to see if this will fix my problem but looking for it on the forum and it just won't pop up could someone direct me to it?

Alternator help
will it continue to run after you unhook the charger/jumpers? if so your alt is probably working, your amp gauge should also tell you
haunting probably has nothing to do with your alternator, if the engine bay looks anything like the alternator in the first set of pictures, very good chance you have multiple vacuum leaks or one major one
