What is the highest number of street miles put on a set of these seals?

 

Rich, I have almost 4k on mine so far. Clip from this weekend in my sig below.

 

Edgar didnt have an exact mileage for me but he has a customer who has over 2 years of daily driving on these seals, he estimated around 20k miles.

We are working in making them 3 mm for the 13b and also for the 12A. At this time we are working on a larger inventory for the 2mm. We hope to start on the new sizes in the next few month.

got 7k so far! i wish i could afford the rotors but dont have 4k to throw away like that!

 

iv put them in 3 motors and havent had anyproblems with the first start up.

 

Can these seals affort 25psi of boost @ 10 grade degree and 11 at the AFR???

How much run can I ghet with these seals @30 psi of boost?

 

depending on the tuning and the setup maybe 4s 5s 6s

 

As long as the tuning is correct you will not have any problem and they will last for a long time. We have found that they are very forgiving, we have customer that have lean the motor out and they have held together. We have many customer running them in Puerto Rico at different boost level from 20 to 55 pound of boost, we also have customer running over 500 hp of nitrous. Little lucky in Puerto Rico has been running our seals for over a year with out bending them at 450 hp of nitrous. WHen i popped my motor with 3 pc seals.
The OEM seal chipped. Didnt break, just chippped a tiny peice of the corner of the seal and it compressed it on my housing.

That ruined my rotor,housing, rear and center plate. This made my rebuild so expensive i had to get a j-spec motor.

So, like Allen said. If it would save the rest of the engine and therefor saving you a lot of $$.
Im looking at the the same way ALlen does. Cheaper rebuilds = more drive time.

Are your apex seals the same design and machining process from day one to now?

Or has the design been improved on with coatings, machining, materials, etc.

I'm asking because i bought a set from a member and compared them to a set my friend just bought and they kinda look different. My set had more of a regular steel look to them, and the new set looked like there was a slight tint or coating on them. Could be wrong, but just thought I'd ask.

 

Well we have made some improvements to the seal but you really cant tell. The color of the coating still the same (dark gray) you might have an un coated set. send me a pic and i can verify if they are ours. enjauto@bellsouth.net.

Anyone have any more updates or miles on these seals?

 

Ive got several customers with over 10k miles reporting their car hot starts just as good as it did when they finished break in. Look at Sk8world in the drag racing section. Over 12k miles of use, still has great compression(engine he built himself) and is making a little over 600hp this whole time.

I dont know the exact number of engines I have built with these seals(25+ roughly), and have had no issues to date.

 

Have been running these for over a year now.
28 PSI and an old E6K.
No problems what so ever with the seals. I did crack a rear iron, but the seals held up and saved my T72!

 

How good are these for a stock rebuild on a 13B Series 4 6 port NA engine?

 

For a NA I would just stick with OEM Mazda seals.

 

How about considering I'm going to boost said engine.
