85 12a missing spring

So I currently have a 85s and I have rebuild and now closing the engine. I am now putting on the front cover and I’m told there is no thermal pellet. But shouldn’t there be a spring or two involved with the shaft before the pulley bolt goes on. I fear these parts ran away from me. Thanks as always

you need to get a thermal pellet and spring if you don't have them.

*Edited because the answer did not address his 1985.

12a uses the thermal pellet? i thought this was a design change in 86 and anything before didn't have it.

The 12a and its bolt do not have provisions for a thermal pellet or spring.

That is strictly an '86-up mess.
Which is why every 13B that I'd built used a GSL-SE eccentric shaft.
