84 Rx7 Power Steering Removal

I am very, very new to cars and more specifically newer to rotary engines. I am building an 84 rx7 and am curious if I can take the power steering off completely without messing everything else up?

convert to a manual rack. You'll have more engine bay space and less weight in the front

The manual and power steering boxes along with the steering shaft are different. Not an easy job.

I also thought about doing this. Just to gain a little bhp and lose some weight. I hope to find a way in the near future.
