It's physically doable, my buddy runs them in his 13B-REW swapped TII. I don't know what you'd need to do structurally for it though. I imagine it would turn into a somewhat custom job, the ppf would likely need modifying, the tranny cross-member may need attention, along with the driveshaft (obviously).

I've never seen it on an FD personally, so I can't give a perfectly accurate account/checklist of what would be needed I'd def want to get the tranny rebuild and cryo treated first though..

I've seen where people have swapped to an rx-8 gearbox, and performance wise, its virtually the same as the stock 5 speed.

I'm more than sure the driveshaft would have to be custom length. I don't know if the Rx8's 6 speed is that strong of a gearbox. I'm sure someone here knows.

I'm aware it's not a very strong gearbox. But I just want a 6 speed. Plus the short shifter I want is only make for the rx8, and s2k. My buddy has one in his rx8 and its the nicest shifter I have ever seen.

I would not do a transmission conversion just for the short shifter!

They don't handle power, not worth your time. Swapped RX-8's that make power ditch them for the JDM RX-8 5 speed which is a JDM FD trans with RX-8 bellhousing (push type clutch) and RX-8 tail housing so it bolts right in.

Isn't the point of having a turbo engine so that you have a broad powerband so you don't need to shift all the time?

You will be able to break it at will by going WOT in 3rd gear.

Why do you "just want" a 6 speed?
