Questions about rollbars; need some good input

First off, I'd like to put a roll bar in my 84 GSL. Now is the time to do it since I have nothing in it, the welding would be much simpler. Here come the questions:
-When a person says 2-point or 4-point or whatever, does that refer to the points the cage contacts the frame or to the corners on the cage? (This is to solve an argument, I always believed the former, could be wrong)
-Any internet sites with pre-made 1st gen bars?
-What about this ebay bar ? (looks like a scam kinda, but it could just be a decent deal)
-Is it believable/pratical to make my own? (I have decent welding knowledge and access to help with extensive knowledge)

I think that'll do it (for now). As always, any input, good or bad, is welcome. Thanks.

I always thought the 'points' refered to the number of times it was mounted/welded to the frame

Mounting Points.

Kirk Racing sells bolt-in and weld-in 4, 6, and 8 pt cages for a 1st gen. I have the 6pt bolt-in.

Do not try to make your own unless you know exactly what you are doing. Don't take a chance with safety. There are also rules to what rollbars you can run in different races.

Cool, I was right in the argument

I haven't checked the links thread yet, but I'll ask anyway. Links to autopower or kirkracing anyone?

Thanks

www.kirkracing.com - but the site is worthless. Call them instead.

Wow, you weren't kidding. That site is worth less than my broken passenger door handle. Hehe.

Yeah, David88Vert is right. Don't try to make one if you don't know what you're doing. You have to be aware of different shapes and angles the cage will form that are there to give you the most safety. Probably better off buying one.

Always buy a rollcage from a person who knows what he's selling. You really shouldn't attempt to make your own, unless your willing to risk your life.

Check your yellow pages and help out your local economy...there are plenty of cage fabricators everywhere and they don't care what the car is, just where and in what sanctioning body it will race and how fast do anticipate it going. Everything else is fluff....
