Question Paint Colors...

At the moment I've got an 85 GSL-SE brown with a brown/tan interior. I'm going to be painting it soon and I just wanted a few suggestions on what color might go okay with the brown interior.

Thanks in advance

good question, I am in exactly the same boat.
I am interested in the response.
So far, all I can think of are maybe a copper, and basic white.

I would think twice before repainting the car another color. If you want to do it right and make it look good with the hood up and the door open it takes a ton of work. I hate a good looking car that opens the door/hood to see a clashing color.

I have a solar gold SA with brown interior. I love the gold, and hate the brown. Thinking about changing interior colors as it is all ripped up.

brown interior

IMO, it would be much easier to stick with your original color, and you could probably get a premium paint job for less money spent than paying for an average looking complete color change. Almost any color looks good with three or four clear coats over a straight body.

If you are hell bent to change colors, then you might consider white, yellow or even orange to go with a brown interior. (just don't paint it Tender Blue, that's mine and a few other guys )

branca! You have my car except yours has an "-se" on it!

`,=o/ And mine's beat up a bit more. Mine doesn't have brown in the back though, the guy I bought it from cut out white carpeting to fit in the back, and it looks freaking AWESOME. And it's comfy too.

I've been debating about this with my car as well. I've come to the conclusion that you should stick with the original color as it will look better overall and match more closely with the 'hidden original paint areas' (under hood, door jams, etc) than would a different color, assuming you aren't going to paint those areas.

what is the best paint job you can do under the hood without taking out the engine?? right now my car is a deep blue and under the hood is silver (neither origional paint). i am going to eventually paint the car either black or orange (i think) and it would be nice to get the engine bay to match as well.

Briown.

Listen, Mazda wanted your car brown. I want your car brown. The mound, when repainted this year, will be, brown.

Damn suckas always ask me, when I tell them I am going to get it painted soon, "What color?"

Brown.

Right on.

I see your point on painting it the same color because of the door jambs, engine bay and such... Would a matalic brownish reddish color work? Sort of like a cinnamon color... That would look better and wouldn't clash too much with the brown areas...

I am well aware of the hazards of changing colors, door jambs, under hood, engine compartment, inside of the doors, etc.
I was planning on doing a lot of the work myself. I just repainted my 80 original black. Looks beautiful.
My 85 GSL-SE is cream with a brown interior. The interior is ok color, but it is in excellent condition. The exterior is going to need paint eventually, and I hate the "off white", or cream color.

I think you will need to pull it. i cannot imagine trying to paint the bay with the motor in. too much stuff in the way.

I will have this in about 5-6 days:

As far as I know, they repainted all the hard to get areas (door jambs, engine bay) when the car was painted.

I'll get back to you in 5-6 days, I should have it here by next Thursday. I'll post a new thread when I get it and can inspect everything. I know it has an aftermarket carb (Mikuni 44?), RB headers, aftermarket cat-back, I believe springs and shocks, and those fittipaldi's. I may sell the wheels/tires though for a different set of 15s my friend has but I want to look at them up close first.
