Question Can you ID this turbo? Most likely not...

Well, my friend was given this turbo for his 13b, but it is incredibly too large... so, of course we immediately thought "Stick it on the 20B!" We haven't bothered to take it apart and measure anything, or even get many external dimensions (actually, none)... pretty much all I have is this picture :

I'm not expecting anyone to be able to tell me exactly what this is, just thought someone would like to guess. It says garrett all over the thing, but there are no serial numbers or part numbers to speak of. The thing spins freely with ZERO shaft play... the outside is a bit filthy since it was used on a bus of some sorts, but the internals look fantastic. We were also told that this thing is nearly $6,000 to replace on whatever bus it came off of (our friend works in a garage and acquired a few of these things off of decomishioned machinery for free)... He has the part number that they use to order them from their distributor, but I haven't gotten it from him yet. We were also told that it is a ball bearring unit. I'm not declaring any of the above to be true, just what we were told

Also, that piece of paper in the picture is a bank deposit slip... very close the size of a dollar bill, for size reference of course.

So, what do you think?

I got the part number for this turbo... it's not much of a help. The part, when ordered from Detroit Diesel, is R103760. I called detroit Diesel to see if they knew what it was, but their parts lookup system said "tv7101, dbl fln", whatever that means.

Does anyone know anybody that works for detroit diesel, or might have a catalog, or a contact of any sorts with them?

A google search turned up this document.

http://www.melett.com/pdfs/Garrett/T-TL-TV-TW60-70.pdf

Looking at the chart it reads T/Hsg A/R 1.39 for that modle.

So far, I'm pretty sure that this is a tv71, tv7101, tv71/01... But I can't find much of anything on this turbo... I know that the tv71 is a medium frame journal bearring turbocharger... One PDF says it has a 88.39mm compressor wheel, but then I found this spanish website that says otherwise... though it's hard to understand there as well...

and then I found this weird *** "compressor map" if you wanna call it that:

Does anyone know anything about these turbos????

1.04 a/r means nothing, becuase its only relative to other exhuast housings in the same family

a T03 exhuast housing of a 1.3a/r flows considerably less than a T04 housing of a 0.84a/r
