If the numbers on your poll include maintenance, you truly have no idea how much it costs to properly maintain an FD....

Hell, I'm close to $3k on just my few mods (and the PFS intake and SMIC were USED!).

If you include maintenance, almost everyone here will be in the "cashing out their IRA" category.....

Phew! Glad to know I'm not a cheaps cake, miserly muffin, frugal strudel, thrifty biscuit, or anything of that sort!

Sorry, I couldn't resist. The word you wanted is "cheapskate":

Heh, I think you need a few more choices on the upper side! I've spent over $4K in maintenance only in past 1 1/2 years of ownership (most of it was a new engine).

I think your poll chart needs another set of zeros added...

...but guys like jimlab would probably still go over that.

This "cheaps cake" has spent about 25 grand, not even counting routine repairs.

I feel so much better now... Thanks for posting this ...blue. Now, I don't feel so bad about having to drop $4150 for a Pineapple Street ported motor and a PFC(and that's only in April). It's not even installed yet! Still need to pick up some 1300cc inj's, ACT clutch, etc...

Modding a Third Gen Rx-7 is like CRACK COCAINE &/OR HEROINE. It sucks you in and you just keep wanting more...

Bought car in 1995 for $20K with extended warranty. they paid $11k for new motor, tranny, air pump, suspension pieces.

Since 1999 I have spent about $15K out of pocket for wheels, new paint, IC, dp, cb, roll bar, bushings, and a parts car for $2500K.

Still cheaper than a 911 or NSX .

The car is not that expensive to mod or maintain. People at the law firm where I work at think nothing of dumping $85K for an M5. Well, 9 years and my total cost on the car is still under $40K and I got so much enjoyment out of tinkering with the car.

This is so true....the sad thing is that i dont even drive my car. If you drive it to the bar...some punk keys is it cause they are jealous. If you drive it to the mall some carriage hits it. So 10k atleast got me nowhere.

That's what insurance is for.... Don't worry about stuff that is out of your control, drive and enjoy the car!
