Rebuilding again....what left of my original FD, another FD with a straight frame, Salvaged parts, and the parts that never made it. So much fun....

DAMN! Now, that's love and dedication! I thought I spend alot on my car...

Doesnt take much to get up there. I estimate I'm in for at least 10K. Spent 16, 500 in August of 99 to get the car.

Maintenance is spending on your car. Anyone who has replaced an engine is already near the $6k mark.

The actual title says "how much MONEY$$$ have you drop on your FD less car cost!!!" Doesn't say "how much have you spent on upgrades only".

I for one said $2500 in estimated extended warranty deductible charges (not even the full maintenence and certainly no ******* oil changes included) , but I'd still be at $55k plus (original price of $25k included) so it didn't factor much.

Hell I spent your $6k with pettit alone in the last year, $6k with Maztech in the last year too, and at least another $10k in others combined...read my mods and that's the proof you'll get.

I think I spent about 7K since I purchased the car.. But still need to spend another 5K+ for new paint and stuff... Its a love hate relationship with this car.. Sometime, I just hate the damn thing and want to get rid of it.. But when i sit inside and acturally drive it.. Its love all over again..

Since I have bought my car I have bought:
Race ported motor = $4000
GT35/40 Single Turbo = $3600
Fuel System = $2000
ECU = $1300
Ignition = $400
Exhaust = $600
Intercooler w/ BOV= $1500
Clutch & Flywheel = $1000
Paint Job w/ new front end = $2800
Radiator w/ AST = $600
Seats = $600
Gauges = $400
Misc. **** = $????

So that is about $19,000 in aftermarket + the car = well over $30,000 plus all the maintenance bullshit.

Happy Now?

And I have only owned this car for 1 year and 3 months.

started with a 2000.00 blown up FD
Since have put $18,587.00 into it.
Not too bad for a Single T RX-7 capable of high 10's or low 11's, and the kind of car you can't get out of the parking lot, because everyone and their brother wants to talk to you about it.

Dude, your car is one mean looking ************. Well it helps that yours is black cause so is mine with roll cage and wheels. And damn you got a car for a steal too.

Anyway, if you're looking for a repaint, I would suggest Mr. Spoilers in Manassas.

Anybody who thinks you can run 10s and pull 1.1 Gs for $10K and end up with a balanced, reliable, livable car hasn't tried!!!!!!

Hello???
Mc Fly???

Are you kidding?

Wait! I get it! You must be talking about building a car with a life expectancy of a F1 engine (about 200 miles). If you are talking about a streetable 400+ HP car with a replacement free life expectancy of near or over 50K miles, GOOD LUCK.

I have almost 12k in reliability and mods and I still need a rebuild. I'm not running 10s or 11s...But I am doing it right.

17.5k in the car and 12k spent on the stuff in my sig.

I figure another 15k with wheels, rebuild, single setup, and I will be where I want to be. with a grand total of about 44.5k I have a feeling there are many on this forum who have spent well over that.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Can't believe the upper end of your poll is only $6K.
Cost is relative- If you have a high end Italian or German car, you will spend ton$ on just routine maintenance. My Z06 will be a money pit if I ever start modding it. However............
On second replacement engine $4.5 K for the first, $5K for the current one. On second clutch with instal $700 for first, $800 for this one. Blueprinted, ceramic coated turbos $5500. Intake with pipes, etc $1500. CAI $200. Strut brace $200. Sway bars $400. Cat back and DP $900. ECU $1500. Radiator $500. IC $1000. Sway bar brackets $200. Mud guards $300. BS S03 PP $170 ea x 4 every 12 months. PLus dozens of little $50-100 items which probably add up to a couple more $K.
But- it's as sweet as a good woman when it runs well and when it does not- you turn the key off and park it. Try that with a woman.

Damn, you guys have put a lot into your cars...I'm sure I'll be up there in no time. I've only had the car about a month, have spent close to 6k on things and have not even driven her yet...haha. She's almost ready though.

heh after keeping stock and basically spending about $1000 for an upgraded radiator and replace clutch in 5 years, i thought i was doing pretty good.

However with the engine going at ~140k, i decided to 'just go for it'. So....In 3 months i've spent >12k . And i haven't even seen the car since April. Going to get a paint job once the car arrives, so then adding probably ~4.5k to that total afterwards.

I was deliberating on whether to
1) get a new car / RX-8 and sell FD
2) Keep FD and mod it etc.
Went w/ #2 since FD still gives me excitement.

Goodbye.
Edgardo

not including the price on the car about 15K on mods alone.
