Thinking about how much I have and need to spend is almost enough to make me sell the damn thing.

I bought the car for 11400 two months ago. It had 51400 miles or so on it. White '94 touring. Even had pettit's TKT base performance package and a downpipe.........

Well three days and about 400 miles later it went down. Finally got it into pettit last week and it turns out the car has been overheated quite a bit before I got it. Meaning all of my water seals are toast because the rotor housings are warped and need to be replaced. My wiring harness and MOP lines are cooked and need to be replaced/repaired. Along with a few other "while the motor is out" kind of things I'm looking at spending about 7500 dollars to get it back into good shape.

So after 2 months I'm looking at a total cost of about 19000. It's not that I can't afford it, but I'm still hurting from buying the car just 2 months ago. I was expecting to rebuild the motor, just not 3 DAYS after buying the car. lol.

Don't buy an FD unless you have the discipline to keep it 100% stock or have lots of cash to blow. Visiting this forum is guaranteed to distort your sense of reality and give you a bad case of FD envy. So if you are new and reading this, don't fool yourself into thinking you will be any different. I bet if you doubled the last catagory to $12K+ the majority would fall there. Modding an FD is like a needle, once you start it's hard to stop. I need some therapy. Tom

amen, I did all the reliability mods (and was way too paranoid...popping hood after hard driving, turbo timer, etc.) and the coolant seals still failed. Go figure.

Thanks, it's a fun little car to run around in. Alot of attention from all walks of life. Plus I'm a V8 American muscle car fan, so I always line up with my friends in the domestic lane. Wait for someone to talk **** and then wish them luck, and hop in the car they were talking $hit about. LOL.... The best part is that there is only 3 other FD's in my town, and most of them are basically stock, so it's a one off car. Fun to go cruising by and watch all the Fast and Furious wannabees stare too. LMAO!!!! Nothing beats being with all your domestic buddies, and meeting some new guy talking trash about your import and your firends egging him on. LOL.... We have a blast at the track. They all know what the car is capable of, but like always it's fun to bust on each other. DAMN Ford, Chevy, Mopar, import you know the drill...

Anyway, if you're looking for a repaint, I would suggest Mr. Spoilers in Manassas.

PFC with datalogit and wideband - $2000

POS XS PFC tuning that blew 2 engine - $300

real dyno tuning - $500

fuel system - $400

MSD6a - $100

full exhuast - $1000

inake - $100 its custom alum hardpipes with K&N's

IC - $1000 custom, similar to M2 includes all alum IC pipes, and Greddy elbow

turbos - BNR stage 3's - $2000

tower strut brace - $200

front anti sway bar - $200

control arms and toe links - $450

used set of Koni yellows with H&R springs - $525

cross drilled slotted rotors with Zinc coating- about $300

Apexi front bumper including paint and fog lights - $1100

There is prob another $1000 or so in misc **** like my expesive $140 battery, mics cables, tools, jack stands, hydro floow jack, **** I'm forgetting, ect, ect, ect.

Notice non of this includes labor as me and friends have dont all of it. A lot of credit has to go to Brian from BNR, he helped me with the IC, intake, engine stuff, and much much more. BTW - If I had it to all do over agian the one thing I would change is I would have got Steve to do my tuning instead of XS. It would have saved me 2 engines and probably 8 months worth of down time and aggrivation.

You guys that are getting computers need to listen to that and done waiste your time ******* around. Just make sure its done right by someone with a good rotary tuning reputation that knows your computer. Learn from watching them and read all you can about tuning, then you can do stuff on your own after you have a good starting point.

I'm just starting on this FD thing. I have budgeted for:
Turbos - $1950
Rebuild - $ 3500
Mods - $ 2500
Stuff - $1000
total $8925

oh ****!

Anyway life is good!

I'm planning on doing it all at once! I just put a grand in my "special fd" savings account last week. Only 8 more deposits needed.

The car still runs great, so it will stay (almost) stock until either the turbos or the engine blows.

Edit: I shoud just give Kan the money and let him hold it!

Up until my engine blew I only had about $1k invested (other than the buying price that is). Now it's bordering on $7k with new ported motor, new turbos, and clutch.

with all this money into the car ( this question is for you 400+RWHP) is your car relativly reliable with the proper mods? im looking to buy a highly modded 7 in the price range of 21-24 grand and (with the right mods) would i be able to drive this car atleast 4-5 times a week (weahter permitting) without having to put tons of money into it to keep it runnning.
sorry I dont know if anything i just said made sense...its late

Barring the less typical things like OMPs, air pumps, FPRs and other things breaking, the only real maintenance issues you will have is suspension bushings, oil changes, spark plug changes. You should realize that a motor putting out that much power is not going to last 100k miles, no matter how you take care of it.

BTW, Barry (kwikrx7) is selling the exact car you are looking for at the right price.

XS - AHH HHAAA - So I was not the only one that needed a rebuild.

Should be just over $30,000 with suspention, brakes and 4 point roll bar. Wheels and tires not included. I don't know exactly and don't want to know. My expense was labor. If I calculated my usual hourly rate, I think I would sit down and cry But hey I do this for relaxation.

Most likely going on 4K and some change, after I'm done buying the FMIC this month. I've saved a lot on installing/polishing everything myself, and finding some good deals on others.
