N/A Owners ONLY!! How many miles until your engine died?
Yes, I did a search but I see a few people have widely varied results. Just wondering what the borderline is until an engine has died or blown an apex seal.
Looking at this '87 RX7 with an extremely clean body but the engine has about 155K+ miles on it which gets me worried if I should buy or not.

People have gotten 200k out of original FC engines, just start converting to a turbo, and saving up for that engine, or save up for a rebuild of your N/A engine
mine has 78k rihgt now, and im not sure of wether it has bad coolant seals or not. Hmmm

I have 149k on mine and it still seems pretty strong. Hpefully it lasts me atleast four or five years. Maintenance is what makes the big difference I guess and redlining a couple of times.

My '86 n/a ran strong up to 199,000 as a daily driver, then sat for a few months, ran for a month and started blowing smoke real bad. It did still run strong then, oddly enough! (I did run Slick50 through it at 50, 100, and 150K... I can't swear that it helped any, but it certainly didn't seem to hurt it none!)
Then my '87 GXL n/a blew a rear seal at about 139,000, but that was likely due to A: cotter pin falling off of the OMP rod and/or B: quart-and-a-half low on oil.

I have an 86 base with 171k still going on the orignal, my 87 sport went at 72k, while my 90 GTU went at 115k. The 86 is going, it's oil control rings are shot, the 87 was owned by a redneck truck driver that didn't maintain the car at all, but he did keep it clean. The S5 never ran very well to start with, I was surprised it went that long.
i bought an 86 SE that has 198,XXX miles and it still turns over and everything.. just needs a new driveshaft and fuel pump... ( grumble grumble) and new fenders and driverside door.. whoever owned it before I think beat the ever living crap out of it, but hey.. i got it for $150 U.S. so not a bad buy in my head.
