I just got my car back from the shop and they told me that they couldn't get the stock temp, boost and fuel gauges to work. So my question is, what do I need to do to get them to work?

I know this may be a shot in the dark but can ANYBODY help me.

I'm running a LT-8s and have no idea what wire is for what. PLEASE any help would be great.

The fuel gauge should not have been effected. It's on the body harness.

The stock temp gauge is on the engine harness so they should have stripped those wires out of the harness before they discarded it. The boost/pressure sensor is also on this harness.

I think you'll find that your wipers don't work either.

You need to get your old emissions harness (EFI harness) and stip all wires out of it but the wiper, boost/pressure sensor and water temp connections then reinstall it.

Sounds like the shop should have known what they were doing...

 

Both shops that worked on the car really messed things up. The last shop did manage to get the wipers to work. Is the EFI harness the one thats attached to the fuse block? Is it possible to hard wire the gauge right off the back of the gauge plug? I looked and it looks like one of the shops already tried that and got some of the gauges to work.

 

Let's use the proper names...The "EFI" harness is actually called the "emissions harness". It's the harness that extends from the ECU and connects to the injectors, AFM, etc.

You need the stock pressure sensor connected to use the stock boost gauge. The temperature gauge is the yellow/white wire on the harness and all the way to the gauge cluster.

the last time i did a microtech install. i got the water temp wire from the loom that goes to the dash, the "emissions loom" connects to it near were your factory computer is mounted.

the other way is to pull your dash out and tap straight from their for your tacho, water temp etc.

 

You don't need to pull the dash, just pull the instrument cluster.

Aaron, I have read your posts on threads similar to this one and it has been a big help. I understand the wiper issue and have singled that out along with the temp sensor and boost sensor. My question, what wires are related to the alternator. Is it wire(s) coming off one connector to another or does it actually go into the engine bay from the ecu.

 

On an NA, the alternator wiring is on the emissions harness. The black and white/black wires that come from the small plug on the back of the alternator go to the big orange plug in the passenger side footwell to join the front harness. The high current alternator wire is on the engine harness.

On the TII, I believe that all of this wiring is contained within the engine harness so it should not be effected by emissions harness removal.

 

word.....so as long as I single out the wipers and the water tempsensor (which I already did) the rest of the install is just following the wiring diagram, correct?
