Check out my heater core
It was 28* last night, and I have no heat in my car. I pulled the core today and I can't tell if its the core or the control valve leaking.

I'm thinking of undoing my byapss and hooking the core up underhood, then starting the car to try to find the leak.
Sorry about posting two threads, this forum is slow as **** sometimes!
PS: Does anyone want a write-up on an 84-85 dash removal? I took all the necessary pictures.

heater core
Hey, I'd have to say it's your valve, I've read on here that the heater cores rarely go, and on my GSL-SE it was the valve. Anyway, I ended up buying a whole heater unit from someone with a good valve and heater core allready on it. Here's a picture of what my valve looked like. Isn't it fun taking the dash out

Pele, I will do the write up, but I have to host the pictures on the forum, which is going to take a little while. I have 40+ to upload!

so if the valve is shot, then does that mean you won't get heat anywhere, or just coming through the upper vents?
my car is sans heat right now, but it comes through the vents for the windshield and down at my feet. what's up with that?!?!? is that the whole core or just this valve-thingie?

It sounds like you have a problem with the vent selector.
I was going through coolant, so I bypassed the core until it got cold enough to prompt my lazy *** to fix it.

Most electronic vent controls have a failsafe that sets it to winter settings (Clear the windshield and melt the snow on your feet) in the event of a failure... It's for safety... Or something...
Not sure about mechanical controls...
Do you have an 84-85 with electronic controls?
