FD & FC Aluminum Oil Pan Group Buy

I am starting this thread for the joint Group Buy for FD (3rd gen) and FC (2nd gen) aluminum oil pans. The retail price for the FD pan is $425 and FC pan is $350. The Goup Buy price is $399 on the FD pan and $299 for the FC pan. Shipping will be $20 via FedEx Ground anywhere in the USA. International shipping at cost.

The minimum number of participants for the GB is three. We currently have one payment in full and one $50 non-refundable deposit. One more full payment or deposit will get this GB going. If you don't have all the money now, we will accept a $50 non-refundable deposit and give you up to 60 days to pay the balance. If, for some reason, you can't go through with it, we will allow you to apply the deposit to any other purchase from us of $50 or more, in the same 60 day period.

Payments can be made by Paypal to <sales@pineappleracing.com>. You may also order online (price won't reflect discount, but we will adjust it prior to charging your CC), call in a credit card number (503-233-3878) or mail us a check or money order (12838-B NE Airport Way, Portland, OR 97230).

Once the GB is officially going, orders will ship as full payments are received.

Here is a link to the original thread in the Group Buy Interest section of the forum: >> HERE <<. Please check there for answers to questions that have already been asked.

Here are pictures of the FC Pan, which we make ourselves:

The features are that is holds one more quart of oil, has baffling to control oil slosh, a "windage" tray to help de-aerate the oil on its return to the pan, uses an o-ring for leak-free sealing, sports two drain plugs, and adds stiffness to the engine to reduce bearing wear.

Here are some pictures of the FD pan, which is made by a business partner:

These pictures were taken before some cosmetic modifications (the GZ and Pineapple were replaced by a stylized "X" logo) and before we decided to have them all powdercoated with a black wrinkle-finish.

Here is a more recent picture of one powdercoated:

Got a third order. The GB is now officially on.

(1) Classic Auto Body (FC Pan) -- PAID IN FULL
(2) SnipeD_RNA (FC Pan) -- $50 deposit
(3) FCrocious (FC Pan) -- $50 deposit

I will ship Classic Auto Body's order immediately and any other paid-in-full orders as they come in.

NOTE: I just talked to our supplier for the FD pans and the supply is limited until the new batch of pans is ready in a few weeks. Right now, we have three on the shelf. Act fast if you need an FD pan. We have plenty of FC pans, however.

The oil pan bolts? Those are M6x1.0 fasteners, so just 7-10 ft-lb. The engine mount bolts, however, require 46-69 ft-lb.

Update:

(1) Classic Auto Body (FC Pan) -- PAID IN FULL; SHIPPED
(2) SnipeD_RNA (FC Pan) -- $50 deposit
(3) FCrocious (FC Pan) -- $50 deposit
(4) TRISPEEDFD3S (FD Pan) -- PAID IN FULL
(5) stevie1020 (FC Pan) -- PAID IN FULL; SHIPPED
(6) Chris in Gainsville, FL (FC Pan) -- PAID IN FULL; SHIPPED

TRISPEEDFD3S: I'm going to have to drive across town and pick up the remaining FD pans from the supplier. The guy who was going to bring them over is apparently taking a couple days off and no one told us.

Plenty of FC pans in stock.

Jeff: Okay, I got the FD pan and processed the shipping. FedEx will come get it tomorrow, so you should see it mid-week if not earlier. PM me if you want the tracking number.

Everyone else: I have one other FD (3rd gen) aluminum oil pan in stock and have been promised two more next week. These are the last until the new batch gets finished, so it could be out of stock for a few weeks. If you need an FD aluminum oil pan, call NOW or be prepared to wait. FC (2nd gen) aluminum oil pans are in plentiful supply for the time being.

Here is a better shot of the internal baffling of the FC pan, and a comparrison of the stock vs. aluminum pan.

Thumbs up

Just recieved my pan.

I have to say: A + !!!

This is seriously a thing of beauty, by far one of the nicest FC specific aftermarket pieces available. The windage tray almost brings a tear to my eye - lol.....its too bad the prettiest part of my motor will never be seen by passers by.

Thanks guys, outstanding work!

Ok....where do I start?

I got my Pineapple pan on thursday and finally got time to install it today. My initial impressions were that it was nicely constructed and had a great finish. One of the things that I didnt realize however, was that this pan does not allow the use of the stock oil level sender. Its not terrible, but it really should be noted on your website and any future GB's.

When it came to installation I found that quite a few of the bolt holes did not lineup properly. I realize this pan is much thicker then the stock pan but that doesnt mean a hole should be off center. It should be as easy to put on as the stock pan when it comes to tightening down bolts. I took the pan off and tried several different ways to install it but nothing would work. Im sorry, but Im not willing to strip bolt holes in the bottom of my motor for an oil pan. I would hope that each pan you receive from the manufacturer is first test fitted on a motor and then sent out.

Also worth noting....The AWR poly urethane motor mounts will not work with this pan. I, unfortunately, found this out the hard way. Please contact me so we can figure out how to resolve this.

Sorry about your problems. The holes should line up fine and we haven't had any other complaints or seen any problems with the ones we install at the shop ourselves. I have no idea why aftermarket motor mounts would not work with our pan, since the stock mounts work fine. If you don't like the pan, send it back and I will refund your money.

For the record, I do love the pan. It just has a couple holes that are a little off but nothing a round file cant take care of. Thanks again Pineapple for bringing such cool products to the market for our cars.

No problem. Glad it's going to work out for you. Nice of AWR to offer to re-design their mount to better match the stock mount, so it will fit our pan.

We are now officially sold out of the FD aluminum pans for the time being. We should have word from the foundry today about the scheduling of the next batch, but even if it happens quickly, there are still machining, powdercoating, assembly and packaging operations before they will be back in-stock and ready to ship. The FC aluminum pans, however, are still in good supply and ready to ship the day of the order.

BTW, we sent an FC aluminum pan to AWR so they can re-engineer their mounts to fit our product.

The new FD pans are going to powdercoating today, so we should have them back by the middle of next week.

As for the billing, check this out: recently I got a fair-size order for parts, but the customer lives in Canada, is using a card billed to Belgum and wants the order shipped to a warehouse in the USA. Usually, that would raise red flags but it happens to be completely legitimate. Then why so convoluted? His wife doesn't know about the credit card and she won't see the package arrive at their house. That's what I call a smart use of the global economy. Perhaps you should try it.
