Just to give you all a basic timeline on the shipping of containers. My next container ships out this coming Saturday May 10th and should reach the ports in Cali on May 21st. From that point I should have the container delivered to me within a week unless those lovely port union guys decide to go on strike which is never a fun thing. Keep in mind I am shipping to California and not the east coast. Shipments to the east coast can either come through Cali and then be shipped via rail or they can be taken down through panama canal and delivered to any east coast port. East coast shipments should take 1 month to 2 months depending on the shipping company and route.

We have no problem with the wait, we take issue with the total lack of communication. If the cans location was constantly, accurately articulated then no one here would have a problem.

Ramy, You know you are my boy, and I've known you for ages.. But please understand.. some of the parts I special ordered from certain company, I rushed because you told me container will leave in couple of week... which now is close to a year ago.

dont mean to start a senseless argument. and i am not even part of this container..

but there was a pretty clear disclaimer 2 years ago in the OP....

Ie, THIS WILL BE A LONG AND SLOW PROCESS.

Having said that, if anyone is NOT in *any* hurry whatsoever,
to me, NOT in *any* hurry means, expect it to take a ******* long time(2+years? not very surprised..).
i ordered from fdnewbie ONCE before and that took a VERY LONG time, and there was no disclaimer for that.

I suppose its just different expectations..

goodluck to you all.

To others waiting I got this update from Ramy this morning:
The container’s closed and at the dock; we’re just waiting for the final preauthorization paperwork to be completed so we can load it onto the ship and be on its way.

Hey guys,

Sorry for the lack of updates. Like Bryan mentioned, the container is closed, at the dock, awaiting acceptance of the final filing paperwork. If it isn't filed correctly PRIOR to the container leaving, you can face a $10,000 fine by Customs. So I'm just waiting to hear they have everything they need, then load it and get it on its way over.

So I've shipped a few times through LA, and the lucky thing you guys have is the sheer volume of containers coming in, so the chances of your container in particular going through a Customs inspection is VERY slim. But on that note, shipping from LA to FL is cost-prohibitive for a single container.

Having said that, I was told that based on the parts manifest, I'm pretty much GUARANTEED to have a Customs inspection upon arrival, as has happened to me in the past. Guess that's the cruddy part about the East Coast, and why all the big importers are in Cali...

Once I get the final word that we're cleared to load & ship, I'll be sure to update you guys again.

Almost there...

this is crazy. I have parts that I ordered a month ago coming via boat that will probably be here before this container.

Let's just officially declare Phil in charge of this thread, seeing as he's the only one Ramy will respond to.

Phil you're not COO of FDNewbie Imports.

Well, I've known Ramy for a long time.. And he knows my frustration regarding to this.. And I also have some money tied into this and projects held up waiting on parts. In the beginning, I was rush to make the cut off time which was given me and now, that time has extended over a year and closing close to 2 years. I know few others shipping stuff from Japan and at this point, I could of organized other route IF I was notified it would take this long.

I think all of us on here and also not on here would of been bit more satisfied if regular update was given.

That being said, I hope Ramy will strive to update and follow through at the end and be mindful of what we all had to go through..

So doubtful at this point. I hope everyone kept records of how much they paid and for what.

Yep, me as well. A ~$1500 a spec bumper.

Is it time to start uploading documentation?

I was wondering about that. No matter what has happened with the shipping can, there's no reason he couldn't have refunded their money.

-Err ignore that. I sent him money and did win the auction.

I sent Ramy the $1300 US or whatever it was and won the auction for the bumper and I'm pretty sure I have the documentation somewhere. But I am still waiting on it to hit the US if it ever does.. I'm almost at the point of just wanting my money back :/
