I joined the group. Thanks guys.

All I want is for my bumper to arrive safely.. Especially since I was the one who tracked it down, and how long I spent looking for it..

Update:

I took possession of the shipment a few days ago. There's no way I'm gonna be able to inventory everything in a timely fashion, so to make sure I get all the parts owed to their respective owners in the shortest time possible, I'm literally hunting for specific customers' parts, a few at a time, getting 'em ready for shipment, running the #s, collecting the remaining balance, then getting the parts out on their way. That way, when I'm finally done and everyone has their parts, I can take my time inventorying, photographing, and listing what's left over for whoever's interested.

As Phil said, he and a few other rotorheads are coming down this Saturday to pick up their parts, so I'd appreciate everyone else's patience while I get their parts sorted out, then I'll continue to move down the list with everyone else's parts as quickly as possible.

Thanks for your patience guys,
~Ramy

So I've received NUMEROUS requests for estimates for the remaining balances on the parts I have. So here's what I have.

- Now that I have an inventory list and a final shipment cost, I've been able to calculate "flat rates" for various parts (based on dimensional weight). (Please note that given the finite space limitations in the container, dimensional weight is the fairest method to calculate shipping costs. Unlike actual weight, dimensional weight reflects package density, which is the amount of the space a package occupies).

- Ocean freight price is shown, followed by (cheapest) air express price as a comparison only.

- Kindly keep in mind that air express typically does not include insurance in the price, and does not include Customs (which you would be billed for separately by US Customs a month or so later). I have prepaid ALL Customs costs. And of course, some fragile parts simply wouldn't survive without damage via Air.

- In addition to the ocean freight "flat rates," there is a MINOR handling fee/part. That covers the currency exchange costs, local taxes & shipping in Japan, shipping fees in Japan from the supplier to our warehouse (in Japan), and proper handling/packing fees for the container shipment. These are individual-item-specific costs (because, again, they include local sales tax and shipping costs). The vast majority range generally between $35 - $55 (with a few exceptions on larger/bulker items) per item. Once I'm ready to get your parts out to you, I'll contact you for an exact price breakdown.

- For those who have ordered multiple parts, discounts are applicable.

- For those who purchased multiple parts from the same seller, the parts were handled as a single transaction (no double tax and transaction fee). So your minor handling fee consists of only one tax/transaction fee, and the rest are individual actual shipping costs to us in Japan.

- Given the LONG delay in getting the parts to you guys (even though a lot of it was unfortunately out of my hands due to unforeseen circumstances), I want to make sure I do my best to be fair to everyone, and make up to ya guys for the late delivery. As such, I will NOT be charging:
- ANY storage fees incurred
- ANY Customs charges incurred
- ANY transportation costs incurred
- ANY profit on the parts. Yes, you read that right. You pay cost + fees + shipping. Nothing more. No markup, no profit, nada.

I hope this goes far enough to make things right with everyone. Having said that, please understand that there's literally NO wiggle room in the prices below, cuz there is NO MARGIN built-in to them. I'm going to be in the hole several grand as it is due to the forgone aforementioned costs, and simply hope that selling off the rest of the parts will bring me out of the red.

- Bumpers: $340 ($850 by air)
- Exhaust (catback): $145 ($290 by air)
- Front Fenders: $190 ($475 by air)
- Hatches/Trunk: $215 ($540 by air)
- Hoods: $275 ($550 by air)
- Rear (Over)Fenders: $215 ($540 by air)
- Sideskirts: $150 ($300 by air)
- Strut Braces (large): $110 ($215 by air)
- Wheels: $205 ($500 by air)
- Wings: $150 ($300 by air)

If your part isn't listed above, it's probably because its a small part with negligible shipping cost on the container (clusters, shifters, etc).

So, in conclusion, when your parts are ready to ship, I'll be contacting you with a remaining balance that will consist of:
- Any remaining balance for the cost of the part (if applicable)
- Minor handling fee
- Container/Ocean Freight shipping cost
- Shipping cost from me (Tampa, FL) to you. And I'm happy to utilize any method available of your choosing: USPS, Fedex, UPS, DHL, Greyhound, Truck Freight, etc. I get pretty good rates with Fedex, so between Fedex, USPS, and Greyhound, we should be able to keep ground shipping costs to a minimum.

Thanks!
~Ramy

Thanks for the update Ramy.

Cheapest method of delivery for my wheels please. I paid $50/wheel to ship wheels down to Tampa last year via Canada Post/USPS. DHL wanted $730/wheel lol.

Oh of course man. I don't try to make any $$ on shipping.

Typically USPS has been the cheapest, especially across the border. For US parts, I'm curious to see what the price difference is now between USPS & FedEx, since FedEx is handling a lot of their shipments anyways. We shall see.

And also, Greyhound is an excellent option for many people. I can't recall if Greyhound allows you to ship across the border, but they'll deliver it to the station closest to the border, if that helps any.

Just options...we'll delve into them in more detail soon enough when we're ready to get your parts out.

I haven't listed them yet, but I'm 100% certain I have at least 1 99spec cluster; saw it the other day.

Guys, like I said, I'm tied up taking care of Phil and his crew's parts, who are coming to pick them up this Saturday. After that, I'll start making my way down the list, getting your parts ready, and contacting you individually for updates, balances, and shipping info.

Thanks for your patience,

I've been talking to about 1/2 dozen people who have either shipped or still shipping container(s) regarding to this pricing and I still haven't received this discounted pricing quote since promised over a week ago and short as 2 days ago when I sent him a message when I saw this posting from Ramy.

I was hoping to settle this quietly and put it aside, but its tough when he states he's taking care of me when I myself is waiting.

Any extra FC parts coming in? I didn't see it mentioned in the first post but figured it can't hurt to ask.

container fee

Ramy,

I do appreciate that you took the time and effort to arrange this container. Although the the process took much longer than originally anticipated we all stood by patiently because we trust you as a longtime vendor to take care of business properly and fairly.

However, can you please explain to me why I am being asked to pay a significantly higher total fee from you than from other vendors for the same parts/service? All of the fees (and the comparisons) seem high to me. In the case of front bumper, strut bar, and rear spoiler I have bought the same/similar items within the past 6 months and had much faster shipping from Japan for less money. I am willing to provide you with specific amounts, items, time frames and the vendors but will not post that in this thread unless you request me to do so.

If you would like further details, amounts, feel free to PM me or if you want me to elaborate further in this thread then let me know.

I am still confused on the pricing of everything. So we have to pay a container fee in addition to the shipping fee or the fees you have posted is the shipping and the container fee? If it's the container and shipping fee combined, then that seems fairly reasonable. Was it a lot of money to ship a container from Japan to you? I don't have too much knowledge on taking on something of this caliber. Also, what other goodies did you bring over from Japan?

Davin,

Let me try to answer what I have found.. But as disclaimer, I have never shipped a container and this is what I found out when I was trying to find if these pricings were fair after waiting since May last year.

Container from Japan to West coast far as I gather should not cost more than $6000 for a 40ft container (usual dimension 40x8x8.5 ft .) including tax and customs fee (pending used parts or new parts). This was confirmed by not just one but 5 people I have talked to. 20ft container is about 1000-1500 cheaper.

When something took since November of 2012 to fill and shipped, I consider it was shipped out because container is full. If not, two things happens.. We are paying way too much for the container and we wasted huge amounts of time. If the container wasn't full, I'm sorry but that's really not a fault of ours to wait this long and pay premium price. Its like saying, I'm going to ship you a shift **** but will use an over size box to ship something small.. ie, USPS priority box thats $20 vs $5 box.

Another thing that gets me at this point is the fee associated with shipping to Tampa.. Initially, I was going to split a crate with fellow rotary guys in SE from Cali or at that time when Ramy was residing in NM. But because of his move, container was also moved (additional 1800 miles). That, not sure if we should also pay since it wasn't disclosed to us (cost probably as much as shipping from Japan).

I also contacted several friends in japan to see how much to ship a bumper within japan. Far coast to coast, I was told max about $100. But being container was loaded in central japan, I was told approximate $50 to ship.
With out true disclosure of what all was shipped and how it was calculated, I am not happy with the numbers I see. Mainly because, the 2 bumpers I purchased from Scoot Japan, I had an option to ship directly, I was ask to ship to Ramy person in Japan ASAP, I paid for expedited production and shipping to Scoot, and at $340 a bumper Ramy is asking and not receiving any quotes even now as I post this,... If I had known back when, I would of happily paid $200-300 to ship both bumpers via DHL or Fedex over the air freight via Scoot.

I am planning to go down vs. putting it on a crate mainly to expedite getting these parts and also, I don't want to deal with any other issues I might face. This is also a common agreement between me and 3 other rotary guys in SE who's on the group container and hence we are spending time, money, etc to go down.

Wait, hold on. I'm confused - Did the container have to be shipped further because you moved Ramy? All due respect, I'd better not be paying for that. I got in on this container to save money - I had no problem with it taking time if you kept us up to date and the time was reasonable.

Please post photos of my wheels so I can see what I'm dealing with - and not the auction photos.

Actually I'll make it even easier for you.

Ramy I formally request that you allow Phil Sohn, John Lewis, and Billy Merk permission to verify, inspect and photograph my parts in person when they arrive Friday or on any other date.

Furthermore, I ask that you disclose a complete list of items in the shipping container in order for us to make a decision as to whether the rates you have stated are fair and to confirm that you didn't use a portion of this container for your own personal benefit at cost to us, the members of this community.

Thank you

Matthew Odom

So we're potentially paying double for a bumper that would normally cost $100-$150 to ship to your door? Am I reading this correctly?? I thought also that, and I quote
