FDNewbie Imports V-Mount IC Options!

Ok guys, as we previously mentioned, we're currently working on making our own V-Mount, consisting of a complete kit, ready to install, of the highest quality and performance. But before proceeding to the next phase in development, we need to get some feedback from you guys as to whether or not you'd like the V-Mount to be compatible with the A/C System. The implications of retaining the A/C are that customers will have to either send us their condensors to be slightly modified, or have a local shop modify it to make it work with the V-Mount (one pipe will need to be re-welded in a different direction).

So cast your vote please, and help us get the ball rolling!

Thanks,
~Ramy
FDNewbie Imports

PS: PLEASE do NOT inquire about further details of the V-Mount at this time. We will share this information as it becomes available.

I for one would be more than happy having my condenser modified in the name of v-mount efficiency. i haven't gone through a summer in my FD so i can't really tell you for sure wether i'm keeping the ac or not. probably not- i have horrible enough mileage as it is.

I'd like the a/c to be kept. You can't just make relocation lines?

Just a note guys; while feel free to post, you don't NEED to post; the poll will record your choice

I'm hoping your design is like the Knight Sports or Revo-Tune design. I like how the KS can fit a battery like the 51R (They use a skyline battery). I like how the Revo-Tune has a nice angle to it. I dislike how the KS doesn't have piping all the way to the TB, but the Revo-Tune utilizes the GReddy pipe. Those are some things to take in consideration. I remember the Rotary Extreme VMIC had metal add ons the sides, so the air would be forced through the IC. I think that is a great idea that the JDM tuners didn't utilize. I also like the divder plate that HKS had on their vmount, but don't know how useful it would be with your kit. Just my 2 cents on the development of this IC. I want to get a KS vmount next year, but if you get this done by the time i'm in the market I might just get yours, but yes, I hope my 2 cents helps the further development of your vmount.

Sorry, wouldn't sacrifice my A/C. And getting ahold of R12 is not a cheap/easy process (E-bay, almost $30 a can after shipping when I bought some), therefore, discharging, having the condensor modified, and recharging would not be something I'd be interested in doing.

White94RX, to clarify, IF you want to KEEP the A/C, you'll need to modify the condensor. If you don't want to modify the condensor, you'll need to ditch the A/C. There really is no in between. This is a standard requirement for making a V-mount work...

I think of a v-mount as serious modification, for maximum cooling, which if your modifying your car to that level why would you still have AC. Skip the AC option, your wasteing the cooling with blocking all the air flow using an exchanger.

You don't live in Phoenix, AZ...

Sitting in a car when the ambient is 115+ (and this happens for many many days in a year) without a/c is not fun. Not to mention getting into a car with no a/c that has been sitting in the desert sun when the ambient is 115+...that makes the interior temp of the car 170 degrees or more, is brutal...I look at a/c as a necessity.

It's not that serious of a mod that you have to think of it as a race only mod. If it was that serious, the JDM tuners who developed this system wouldn't have made it an option to keep the A/C. I believe all the JDM tuners that make vmounts add A/C relocation lines with their kits. I know the HKS, KS, and Revo Tune do. I believe the vmount that was made for street driven vehicles was designed for max cooling and function for a street/track vehicle, and it is also very awesome looking!

A/C is a necessity for me. With summer temperatures hovering around 100 degrees and the high humidity, it gets very hot and sticky around here (Gold Bond, bitches... Gold Bond). Also, as mentioned earlier, the heat feels even worse when you ingress your vehicle after it's been sitting in the parking lot for a little while.

I'm hoping that those of you who are voting are those of you who are seriously interested in purchasing a V-mount in the first place? lol

I believe there will be two versions available eventually, Ramy is just trying to fill the initial demand I believe.

My main interest is being able to purchase V-mount style radiator. I would be doing the fabrication for the rest. Not sure if you would be willing to sell just the rad?

You believe huh Dan ?

I'm interested, provided it will work with the A spec long runner manifold turbo placement.

Should work Rich. I think the only thing you'd have to get like most I/C set ups is the pipe from the turbo to the I/C made.

Ramy,
You should set it up so that you have a couple braided flex lines going to the consensor, and then use it as the splitter between the IC/Rad. I don't know if you're working from the pictures I sent you (PM or email me some details), but I'm working on mine now, and that's how i'd plan to solve it. Aeroquip sells braided A/C lines, FYI.

I BELIEVE!! haha, anyway....From the looks of your kit it looks like it should work just fine as long as you have the pipe fabricated for the IC inlet, since you live not too far away that shouldn't be a problem to arrange.
