FDNewbie Imports V-Mount IC Options!
id be interested in the battery relocation kit. to come w/ the v-mount
also i could do w/o the a/c if it woud make it a little more affordable(less work for you)
if it would make no diff. i wouldnt mind to keep it in that case , so i guess whatever floats your boat

Hopefully, I'm looking at a modification/setup that would allow us to use the same size (large) core (without simply choosing a smaller size) for both A/C and non-A/C compatibility. And I'm also looking to relocate the battery altogether, as that would be optimal. A battery relocation kit would be included, of course. Heck, large SMICs require battery relocations...
Oh and Peter, I have no prob. disclosing enough info to explain the route we chose and why etc, but I'd like to finalize the prototype before doing that

^^^^^ cool. I understand Ramy, not trying to bust your b@lls. I just may have to finish mine first. I don't want the first event of the year to come, and car still apart w/ no IC
I'm not selling it though, so no need to worry :-)

if A/c is a concern just rock the standard front mount.
Do you have any pix of your Vmount setup with or without the A/c condensor??
I can't imagine that A/c condensor looks very attractive with a V mount. Have you done any testing with the a/c condensor in place to check intake air temperature or under hood temperature??
I would think that would be a major concern for anyone that is performance or reliablity minded. The two biggest factors in any RX7 owners life. LOL.
Good luck with the kit. I can't wait to see some pix.

A target price has been mentioned in the last page or two...I just read through the pages and I didn't catch a thing about target pricing. All you said, several times, in one post was "reasonably priced"...
So please clarify one more time since I didn't see it anywhere, though I may have just missed it.
So what is the target price????

If that's the case, or the complaint as it would seem, then maybe you guys are better off using rotaries as your winter or night time car and driving a comfortable, gas saving Civic during the day in the heat.
Ever think about that one??
I mean come on you're trying to get top notch performance while rocking an A/c system? These are RX7's, not MBZ SLK roadsters.
There's got to be comppromise somewhere when it comes to comfort and performance, you can only go heavy on one realistically.
Not to say that it's not possible to rock the Vmount with A/c, just that why would you want to????
Seems rather ridiculous.
Just my opinion. Now let's see who's first to take offense to my comment. LOL.

There are just comforts life that people just need to live with. A/C for example, some people can live with it, and some others can't. Adding A/C to the v-mount kit shouldn't affect anything to much, maybe a few degrees higher on the coolant side but thats pretty much it. Also some of us have high maintenance girlfriends/wives who will refuse to go anywhere with you in the hot weather. All in all for about 75 percent of us A/C would be a nice thing to have. The humidity in the NE sucks in the summer.

I'm just breakin some ***** about this one.
I tried to hang on to my A/c with all my life when I threw the 13b-RE in my FC.
I started out front mount but after the shop that did the piping did a **** job I pulled everything apart.
A friend showed up that is a rather good welder, I gave him the project. He did his first Vmount ever, the A/c was never to be seen again.
I understand that there are creature comforts that we struggle to hang on to in the face of performance but sometimes I just don't see the point in making a compromise. Performance or comfort. One or the other.
I'd still like to see some pix of the vmount with the A/c.
FDnewbie, have you done a car with the A/c and vmount yet? Or is this still in the making.
FWIW,
I just yanked my A/C, and everything under the hood weighs only 25 lbs. That's the darn thing with these cars, everything was developed to be so light, that you don't get much mileage out of removing it. Not like Supra orsomething where you can take out the ashtray and save 100 lbs.

I don't see why there should be comfort or performance, why not both? Look at just about ANY exotic, it's got A/C and performance.

I'm looking for a pic of this "kit" with A/c. I want to see what kind of work they've done.
And that's a ridiculous comparison.
You're trying to compare something that's illusively priced, and a high performance production car, to our Beater RX7's.
Yes it is comfort or performance if it doesn't already come with both.
But I guess I'm just against the thought of something that is intended for full race(a Vmount set up) on something that's going to sit in traffic withthe A/c blowing.
If that's what you're looking for than it makes more sense to wait in line for a Lotus. Damn, 2 more years and I'll have saved enough for my very own. I can't wait.
I just don't understand anyone that would want all the clutter of A/c when they have a vmount setup. What's the point? Why not just rock a front mount?
I guess I'm just a little prejudice when it comes to A/c and an extreme setup. LOL.
I had the vmount custom done on my car and it cost less than $2,500. 3 inch aluminum piping, all tig welded. I coul;dn't even imagine the look on the guy doing my setup if I asked him to retain the A/c stuff. I think he would have charged me another $500 just for asking!!
Still, where are the pix??
Is this just a nice dream or has this been done yet?
Speak for your car maybe. I'll make that comparison. My car's no beater.
