Tokyo Auto Salon

Thinking of going to the Tokyo Auto Salon in 2009.
Just wondering if there was some other interesting things
to check out. We would like to visit some tuner shops if
possible and perhaps a road course or drag strip.
We want to stay for a few days and see the sites
only we don't know anything about Japan or where to go.
Would be cool to know what to avoid.
So any Ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Tokyo Auto Salon is getting phazed out. From what I hear TAS will become a VIP and show car show mostly and the tuning cars and d1 cars will be debuting at "Exciting Car Show" (name might be a bit different but something like that). Exciting car show is in the summer which will draw more people from abroad. Most people that have gone to TAS in the past couple years have been disappointed by the lack of tuning cars and overwhelming amounts of weak show cars. (weak meaning not very high quality).
If you are not planning to go until 2009 then i would keep your eyes open and see if the Exciting car show may be a better choice for you.
