8-23-2005... It's hard to believe.. today is 08-27-2005. 1 year and 4 days.. 1 year and 4 days since the last time I touched my RX7.....

Time flies when you're busy messing around with Toyotas

Put the driver side door back in... Removed all the trimming off of the car.. Removed the lights again.. Very busy sanding off all the rust and working away all the dents and putting her in primer. Haven't desided yet whether to give her a full garage paint job or just prep her for a decent paint job now that my mate's changed jobs and I no longer have access to affordable painting. In the end she is a race/drift car afterall

Also checked her over today, I'm amazed how well she survived being left alone for a year. I was expecting rust to have popped back up everywhere I worked on here. Some parts that I sanded last year and painted do show a bit rust (things like the brake slaves cylinders) but I'm wasn't expecting that to hold due to the cheap paint I used but the body work is showing no signs of deteriation. Very pleased with that seeing how badly the toyota has suffered after her brand new paint job last year.

Finally getting the parts I need to finish the rear end of the car, just need to find the time to drop by Mireck, sucks that we live on opposide sides of the country

All that is left now is sourcing more parts.. Need to finish the exhaust, need to get new oil lines, need to put in new brake lines, etc.etc.etc.... but we're finally making some process again...

Today August 28th 2006, I realised that Bastiaan McFly must accidently have set the timer in his old DeLorean one year behind. Too bad its allready sold, Its gonna be a struggle to catch up a year to the rest of us

Hi Bas! Nice to see you back here!
We (that means the family members and I) just talked about you guys a few days ago. We wondered what had happened to you, since we never heared of you again!
Did you sell the Delorean??? That's a pitty, such a cool car. I just read that prices started to rise on those (finally) in the UK.
Nothing ever changes around here??? What do you mean? Kim owns a set of first gens now, what's that for a change! And I'm father of two young daughters, one of which is able to reconize Wankelengine's and loves my rotary cars as much as I do! She even can say who Felix Wankel is ! How's that for education

Heya Bart,

Yeah I've been away to long man to many things have changed, I was just trying to kick kim in the nuts for defecting to the bad side lol

Yeah sold the Delorean, hardly drove it anymore and I was just having to many cars and I couldn't bare to see it just sitting there weathering away.. Now someone is actively driving it and having fun with it while I'm having loads of fun with my rusty Toyota, its much better that way

Good to hear that your kids are enjoying the proper education! I hear thats a difficult thing these days in Belgium. They all want to learn kids confusing things like how to polute the environment by scrapping as many old dirty cars as you can so you can introduce nice clean heavy new cars so rich guys can get more rich...

Yep, you know what I wonder about? When you driva a car for, let's say four years, and 60.000-80.000km, then get a new one and get rid of the old one, how "clean" is that??? Of course, after four years, the new car will have been fitted with a "cleaner" engine, but doesn't anyone ever think about the energy needed to produce the damn thing??? Or the energy needed to scrape the old one?
Well, of course nobody gives a **** about environment anyway. In this liberal ages of mass consumption it's all about buying more things then you'll ever need, so the multinational companies of this planet can pay their shareholders ever bigger profits to buy ever more corrupt governements. So they can squize out the last drop of humanity in the third world countries. After which the US Army can march in and throw over the dictator they first installed anyway. And make us believe we need them for our safety... ???

Hello, all. I'm back as well.

Now that I have access to a computer with something other than dialup speed, and the time to actually check in, I should be in more often.

You still have to finish off that FC sighting story from Iceland.

And welcome back...

Missed you too, my dear friend
I still eat the green stuff, indeed. As for the opinions... I just saw a few too many latin-american movies lately, I guess. And I just finished a book (well, more a leaflet, it's only 71 pages) by Marx and Engels, might be influencing me a bit

Still believe in what I said there, though!

I have to look at the story again, and find out where I left off. It's been such a long time now, the facts have sort of gone hazy, but I will do my best to recall, and finish the tale.

One more day of sanding and priming.. I planned to work on toyota's today but my mate called in sick so I took the chance to work on the rex. Got some nasty scratches out of the door and pretty much put the complete rear end in primer. Also tried out one of the colors I was thinking of using for the car on the rear just to see how it looks and I'm well pleased with the look of it so I think I'll go with it..

Took my camera along, just left the batery in the charger at home so no pictures Awell....

wb turboren!

Btw, got a stupid question. is there a way to roll down electric windows without power?

I don't have anything hooked up right now, not to mention that I'm not even sure that I still have the switches for my electric window (I lost a few bits moving house ).

How easy is it to convert to manual windows anyways (realisticly speaking I'll probably go lexan eventually if I can get my hands on some, so if anyone wants to trade electric windows for lexan ).

If motors in doors work, its not hard to remove door covers and hook up battery to the connector of the motor and let it roll down/up. Its just 2 pin connector, one way it goes down, other way up. If that does not work, u can unscrew 2 bolts holding glass on rail and remove it by hand...there might be even hex head in motor itself for rolling windows down in case of power failure, like it is for sunroof.

Converting to manual windows is not big deal, its bolton issue...i will have parts and Mireck most likely too

Higgs,

Its the door covers that have gone missing in the house move, if i am not mistaken they house the switches aswell

I'll hook up the battery next weekend and play around with the wires, I want to take the windows out for now anyways

I have a set of manual window regulators aswell. They are still in the doors of the FC I gutted out in a far past But Mireck will be closer to you I guess. Maybe you can try to pull that engine out of his new baby when he tries to locate the parts for you Might be a bit hard to put it in your pocket without him noticing of course...

Bart, you're thinking to small!! When he's out looking for parts all I need to do is hotwire that baby and floor it!

Well I'm in no hurry with the window, for now all I need to do is remove them anyways. I can take my time to look for either a lexan solution or pick up the manual setup.. I prefer manual to automatic anyways.. Any chance you have a passenger side mirror in that attic of yours? For some reason I have a manual driver side mirror but an automatic driver side I wanne rip out all the electrics from the doors if I have half a chance... I'm on a diet, so is my car!

sure have manual mirrors! there's a set on the FC on my driveway (that'll be gutted out anyway) and another on the doors I mentioned. Also have most other bits and pieces available, should you need anything. We'll only use the engine and tranny from the FC, and from the old car most parts are still there aswell, just a few gone (mostly to Kim, when he was still an FC guy)

This one is rusty at the bottom, there's just no way to rescue it without costs that cannot be justified. If it was an expensive car, I'd save it, but now it's just not worth it.
My father wants the engine in his SA, and the gearbox as a back-up. Other then that, not much will be saved from the car. I'll take the speedo and meters, but I guess almost everything else will be ending up in the bin, as I don't have the space to keep it. If it was an SA/FB I'd keep the parts as spares, but not much point keeping a set of FC doors, when you don't own an FC, is it?
