Nothing going on in Europe?
So, I guess everyone is still up and about, eh ?
Nope, I'm not a family man, nor I intend to be in the coming months. Maybe in a couple of years....I don't know, we'll see....I just wanted to buy a new car when I returned to Greece, and the RX8 seemed the only logical option.
As for moding the 8, I have touched pretty much everything in N/A form (except porting of course), both interior and exterior. As you can see, I opted for mild mods (such as the plain Mazda bodykit, the smallest rear wing from Mazda etc). The biggest mod is the CarPC (around 2,5KE), and only things that remain are bigger/different rims, bigger brakes, stiffer/lower suspension.
These will be done too, but I don't know when. I'm still finishing up my villa in a Greek island (Tzia for those who know), so I'm a bit short on cash right now
So the turbo will have to wait....

323 wiring isn't too complicated but things like swapping to an internally regulated alternator make things a little more interesting. There are more wires in the aftermarket EFI than there is in the rest of the car LoL. Your FD will be OK, you can ditch most of the complicated parts if it is a race car and just keep your engine loom pretty standard. It takes some understanding at times but most of car electrical stuff is no more complicated than the simplest of DC circuits ... there a just so many interlinked. just keep it logical and methodical and you will be fine I am sure
just want to say again .... love the cage !! superb!

Thanks Ren & Mike!! it's one big job that is complete...many more to go.
Actually, it was built by a very talented Rally driver who also works at a metal shop. I should send you a link to see his Rallycar.

Not sure which kits you have considered but Racing Brake has a few options for stock wheel offset and aftermarket wheels

Seems everyone is busy again! Really nice cars, both Ace's RX8 and Olivers caged-in FD.
Wiring is just as Mike said. A logic aproach does the trick. I just finished the main loom today, must re-install it now, and add the loom for lights etc. These are prepared now, but need to be made a bit longer due to the different routing. That'll be an easy job, just an hour or so. When that's done, I'll wire in the standalone ECU, that'll be straightforward too, as it's been in before. All in all, I'm very close to finishing this. Went a lot faster then thought. Did use up about 30meters of tape though...
When the wiring is done (but before it's all in) I'll need to tackle the underbody protection etc.

Ace,
Forgot to add this thread for you - http://forums.racingbrake.com/viewtopic.php?t=64
Bart,
I have removed all the wiring not needed from the dash to the rear of the car. Amazing how much wiring runs to the ABS system in the back. Post some photos when you done, haven't seen a picture of you car in a loooong time.
Neal,
Don't worry, just be sure to give us a show and tell when your ready...

let's face it. All those of us who are married and have children didn't make much progress on the cars since the summer of 2003...
maybe you shouldn't work on it too hard

Well, build my engine and put all the things together. Project is going to be completed very soon, just few things are left:
- need to build and weld a pipe for the wastegate exit into exhast, damn loud when boosting right now,
- need to replace my GT-R shoks for Koni units,
- need to install DTSS elliminators,
- some ECU tuning at dyno and power check need to be done
- need to get my exhast a bit quter for German TUV and than get the changes into paperwork to be on the legal side.
- need to build some brake cooling pipes...
.....and I'm done woth my own daily driver next project is a cabrio going rebuild and porting boosting with HKS T04E Turbo for sunny days here in Bavaria....

I would not reccomend them for streetdriving, i know, i've driven the trackcar a couple of times on the street and almost everytime i did get pulled over by the police...... Or because of the sound, or because of the "bogging" of the car
full throttle or no throttle is the only relaxed way to drive
for "normal" streetdriven cars i would reccommend the RB templates, good compromise for power and lifespan.
