Nothing going on in Europe?

What's up, folks? You all need to recruit some more people. This forum is too slow

On a side note, I may shortly be the owner of the only 7 here on the base, one of three or four FC's in the country...

Yep Turboren, I feel this forum's pretty slow too.
Aren't there any RX7 drivers out there that have a PC???
Let's get some discussion going, guys.
What about posting some pics of our cars, for a start?
Or future plans?
****, just post something that has something to do with Sevens!

I agree with all of you.

I have talked with 6 people here in Denmark who have RX7s. (I know there are a lot more) None of them use the forum or just look but don't say anything!

I have been wanting to do this for a while. I have a old work buddy who just got a FC and he has posted on the 2nd gen. forum a few time. I think we should all give him a hard time for not joining in on the Euro forum.
So, KIM.......... I know your out there. If you want to barrow my wheels so you can pass car inspection on monday. You better start saying hello to all the good members in the Euro forum.

Time is ticking........ We know your out there!

I have no airpump on the Mariah 1st Gen, and passed emission test without a problem. However, I think newer cars (like FC's) have lower values allowed. You should check that first. But once your car is warmed up, it normally should be possible to pass the test without to many problems.

Thanks,

yep its 100% std. at the moment

Its off the road for some rust repair to the inner arches at the back (damn rust trap!) and a front end respray due to me doing my best to destroy it by running into the back of a pug405 (which in coincidence belonged to a freinds sister ... I'm never going to live that one down!!!)

not too much damage, just a bumper and nose panel

its also getting some adjustable shocks and maybe ditching the air pump and standard exhaust for somthing better. The plan is to keep it looking stock but uprate a few parts along the way

Turboren , yes I rally in the UK ... I'm a Road Rally co-driver (don't think my drivings good enough to be a driver ) we also do lots of marshalling on local events and organise a few navigational rallys for the local clubs

Cheers,
Mike 'Last Minute' Rallying

Mike - How long have you had your RX7? I had a new 1983 gs model many moons ago. Sold it 3 years later with 70,000 miles. I added a spoiler and rear wing which was popular back then. I think your car looks REALLY clean. Like your factory wheels a bit more than the stock 4 spoke I had. Good luck with the rust project.

Rotary emotions - Nice photo! Love the fender flares. You must be having a hell of a good time with that set-up?

Kim - thanks for posting. Since I already saw you today and you stole my rear brake pads I willl talk to you on monday.

OC94Rx7,
I simply love this car, and have plenty of good times with it. Somebody drove into it, causing minor damage, hence the respray. But it's getting better soon: I'm going to rebuild a 13B, and then I will really go fast...

I've had it about 7 months now ... I knew it needed some work when I bought it but decided to drive it while the weather was good and then take it off the road over the winter to do a top job of sorting it out ... should be back good as new in the spring

Rotary emotions, how hard is it to get large parts such as bodkits shipped over ? ... this 1st gen is staying stock externally, but I have a hankering for a widebody strip out trackday monster (not that I have enough time or space to build one at the moment .. to many projects so little time!!)

This is the most action I've ever seen in the euro forum I hope it stays busy like this !

Hi Mike,

I bought the car with the bodykit installed, though the guy who installed it messed up. Can you believe this: I found wood screws underneath the paint when I was restoring cracks and ripped off kit!!!
Because I was planning a GTO racing style car for a friend, I got some info about body kits and shipping them to Europe. Well, here's the good news: write Mariah an e-mail, order and there you have your kit.
Bad news: shipping's gonna be expensive, and if the UK is like Belgium expect HUGE import taxes.
I'll make an example: let's say I buy something costing $100. Apart from shipping (depending on weight & size) I will pay about 17% import taxes. On this $117, I then pay 21% VAT !!! All together, most of the time things get doubled untill I get them. So stuff like a bodykit get's VERY expensive.
Because my friend lost interest in the project, I probable won't build the GTO (although he bought the basic 84 as a donor already!?), so no exact prizes...
Try if there's an importer for those things. There is in Belgium, but he's,..eh..expensive...
Hope that get's you somewhere,
Bart

guys, if u need to order something and have it shipped to europe, don`t ask directly shops to mail you stuff overseas...most of them don`t do it, others will do but u will end up paying big shipping/taxes etc like Bart said...

i have another way which works fine for me....i have friend in USA...all my orders are shipped to him and he is shipping it then all together to me in europe by cheapest cargo service we were able to find....we are saving on shipping, we do have control over it and like last thing, he could make fake invoice for all those parts with much lower prices so when it goes over customs here in Europe, we do not pay 30% from $10 000 but only from $1500 and THATS difference....

If anyone of u is interested, your parts could be shipped together with mine to Prague next time i`m going to have some stuff shipped....then u could pick it up here and drive it home or have it shipped from here.
Point of driving here for it is that if u buy bumper, u could have it fitted and painted here too, for cheapest labor price but still good quality and drive it home over all borders without even having someone to declare to customs

That's a point! By the way, if you buy smaller items on Ebay or something, get them send as a "gift"! Of course, a bodykit won't work, but something like an ECU could, and this would save you a lot of money!

I can second that!

Ya - and I need to start going to my evening Danish class and do my homework instead of writing on this forum

As far as parts from the States. Like Higgi, I get mine shipped from a family member in CA. We change the value of the content to save a little on tax. Here in Denmark, even as a "gift" they can still tax you (so far I have been lucky on car parts) You also run the risk, if you lower the value and the insurance then, if it never arrives The hole system sucks!!

Last week my Mother sent a package to my 6 yr. old son for his Birthday. The value for shipping and content was $45 so we had to pay $24 for tax.
It was a ******* gift for my son. I have to pay the tax man so, my son can have presents from his family.

Just the same over here: gifts can only be under $20, or you have to pay taxes :-(
OK, the whole stuff sucks, so we might have to get a revolutionary group going: ROTARY LIBERATION ARMY.
What about that?
PS: before you shoot someone, it's just a joke....

Then we can high jack a freight ship. Sail to the States or Japan. Come back to Europe, kick back because, we are now in Rotary heaven. Anyway....

You can go to:
http://photos.yahoo.com/clarkesigns2002

If you would like to see a photo of my car and engine.
My winter project started this week. I am installing a smic. I have the intercooler and today I worked on the lower supports. Hopefully next week I can start on the piping and later the air intake. Should be fun. Only have 5 to 6 months before it goes on the road again...Damn it! Will post some photos when it's all completed.

Oliver

P.S. Magnus - You have the nicest first gen. in Scandinavia by far....
