Well, after few months of winter sleep, which was not truly winter since not snow and all the other effects of global warming, i decided to start my drift FC today.
First i had to find what was causing play in rear wheel (loose bolt on left camber link), remove few small rocks from rear brake shield (which i collected offroading at the racetrack in early November), install new wideband sensor (which came with PLX R500 unit). Next steps were returning battery, alternator belt and spark plug wires to its places - i had borrow them to another car some time ago :o)
It started, idled and everything seemed to work, so after warmup i took it for short spin. Boost controller off, rainy condition and shitty rubber in back (235/45/17) making it zero traction anyways. After few months not driving it, i almost crashed it in first 5 mins, but only almost
I was nicely suprised i hit 0,7Bar of boost with AVC-R off, most likely thanks to really cold air conditions.
Daily beater TII is down due to cracked front iron, will that soon hopefully.....but spring events are already popping in calendar and time flys by. Few more snowboarding trips and its here without knowing, gotta get ready for drift season - which should be better than last year, i might eventually learn how to do it right
Besides making vented hood, installing hydraulic handbrake and maybe playing little with tuning, i dont plan big changes on the car. After years of building and shopping for parts, its time to enjoy it a little

Hi Fanis! Now we are almost complete! Just have to find the Ace!
I am in the middle of the most stupid project ever (re-wiring the engine bay...) Soooo many wires. If I ever make it through, I should be able to drive my car this summer! This feels like the last straight line to the finish. I'm sure a few things will go wrong, but I'll make it I swear
Good thing is that I discovered the brakes will be up to the task. I knew it had FD calipers, but I never really looked at the disks. I now found out they are FD too. Which will be funny enough when I need new ones (4 bolt FD... who's gonna make me those?).

I'm in the same boat as you Bart. Starting to do a lot of rewiring myself on the race car. Amazing how many wires a FD has..ha!
Good news, transported the FD out Thursday to get the roll cage installed. Pick it up Sunday evening, very happy to finally be moving forward in that area.

Where were you guys ? And come to think of it, where was I ?
Anyway, you'll be glad (or not) to know that I have moved on to an RX8. No more Hondas for me (not yet anyway
)
Did a little catching up, but like Bart said, not much going on......

looking forward to the cage photos
interesting. Also rewiring the 323 so know the pain LoL the reason it needs rewiring (appart from it going rotary and EFI) is because the engine is now so far back in the car it is easier to move the engine loom inside the car to run to the engine than have it run through the engine bay
Shattered today, no work done on the 323 but been out rallying so got very little sleep at the weekend zzzzzzzz must catch up with sleep !
Just found out I will probably be out to Sweden with work for a week, going out to Finspang near Norrkoping ... any rotorheads close?

We're complete again!!! With me turning 30 last month (yeah Kim, me too) I'm totally going nostalgic. I can't play CD's in the garage, so I had to dig up my old tapes! So now I have Guns and roses or Metallica on tape... Talk about midlife crisis.
So cool to have everyone back here. And great Ace finally got a decent car again
Now all we need is some other war somewhere, so we can start cool discussions again. But I'm sure Bush is taking care of that
Btw, I have taken some pics of the work on the car, need to put them online. I'm starting to dream about wires...

Hey Ace, nice to see you bought a RX8 (does this mean your a family man now?)
the black color looks great. So what plans do you have for it?
Mike, Here are a few quick photos of the roll cage. The extra bar on the floor will be used for the crossbar upfront and connect to the steering. Very happy with the results. Ya, I'm having second thoughts about how far I want to go with the wiring up front, not sure how complex the 323 is but good luck with it! So, how did you do over the weekend? Must be nice you can rally all year round....

someone did a really nice job on that cage ! .... congratulations!
We did OK (collectively) on the weekend I was out marshalling (not so nice to be out all year then
) but my team mate came 2nd overall ... a great result!
323 wiring isn't too complicated but things like swapping to an internally regulated alternator make things a little more interesting. There are more wires in the aftermarket EFI than there is in the rest of the car LoL. Your FD will be OK, you can ditch most of the complicated parts if it is a race car and just keep your engine loom pretty standard. It takes some understanding at times but most of car electrical stuff is no more complicated than the simplest of DC circuits ... there a just so many interlinked. just keep it logical and methodical and you will be fine I am sure
just want to say again .... love the cage !! superb!
